1st Family Dental of Logan Square

For the last several months I have been enduring a dental nightmare. Irritation, gum swelling infrequently, days and days of timing ibuprofen just right to get to the next few hours. After First Family Dental of Logan Square, that has all been in the rear view. The staff couldn't have been kinder, gentler or more informed on what my options were after I discovered in the waiting room that my insurance was effectively useless. Their generous discount for first time patients allowed me to feel more at ease as Dr. Bakir meticulously conducted my exam and identified the problem and recommended me to a great endodontist which now, finally, has me feeling like myself again. They've made a long term patient and advocate this summer, I hope you find as wonderful of an experience (as someone with a strong sense of dental anxiety) as I did!

Dr. Azzam is a compassionate, kind, gentle Dentist. His work is superb. I have many fillings at the gum line bc I brushed too hard when I was younger and he fills them in flawlessly. It's amazing. I recently had to get a crown filled with another dentist in Roscoe Village bc insurance denied me, even thought First Family's wonderful staff fought hard for me. Dr. Azzam even spoke to the agency and they still declined it. My stepdad said he would pay for it only if I went to his dentist. It was at a sleek fancy location that is very expensive and her work didn't come close to the far superior work of Dr. Azzam. I don't know if he is taking new patients and I haven't had experiences with any of the other Dentists at this location, but I would definitely recommend First Family in Logan Square to everyone. 5 Stars!

I went here for my dentist for a couple cleanings. The last time I went, I was told I needed to get a cavity filled. I had no pain with cavity but wanted to make sure I took care of my teeth. Once this cavity was filled I had extreme sensitivity to the point I could not chew on that side of my mouth. I went in to have the him look at it again. He shaved it down and I was able to finally chew on that side of my mouth with discomfort. I went in again after a couple weeks because it hurt still and he said there any nothing else he could do and gave me some sensitive tooth paste and said to put this on my tooth. It has been months and I still have a problem chewing on that side of my mouth. I do not trust the practices here and would advise you to seek another place before having to spend money to have someone fix your teeth from them. Update: They commented on this post so I reached out in good hopes to discuss what happened and never heard back….

Too good to be true. Easy scheduling process online which I loved but turned out to be very useless to say the least! It turns out they did not take my insurance and I was not aware of (online stated different) until I called 30 mins before my appointment. No call, no email, no voice message, NOTHING to let me know my insurance was not accepted!!! Thankfully my children had a secondary insurance or this would be a blank trip to the dentist. The receptionist continued to ask would I like to self pay as if I don’t have insurance and that they failed to notify me that they didn’t accept the Cigna HMO. After telling me that my kids could still be seen and we would probably wait about an hour given that their original appointment was for 10:00 and mines was for 9:00, fine not a problem. I got to the office before half of the staff. 10 patients have walked in and out and we are still WAITING! Almost 3 hours later! Only patients in the waiting area and 0 communication from the staff. I would highly recommend not to schedule online and also make sure they accept your insurance. Apparently if you have commercial hmo or Medicaid your time is not valued or respected! Absolutely NO ONE WAITING AND WE ARE SITTING DUCKS! 10 patients in after us and are out and gone about their day!

Excellent experience! Kindness and professionalism abound at this location. The front desk service and atmosphere put me at ease, and the gentleman that did my initial xrays was great. There was total transparency about cost as an out pocket patient. Dr Basha-Farhat was both kind and informative. Ive never had a more anxiety free visit to the dentist. Highly recommend!
