2 months agoI needed a place to pray while I was visiting Staten Island. Came across this big Masjid/School and was very happy to find a place to pray around here. I had to knock in order to get in and was very confused because it was actually a school and a bunch of kids opened the door to me. There was actual classes and students in the hallway A elderly women staff told me to go downstairs and pray there. When I was downstairs a middle aged male staff told me I was not allowed to pray here when students are here, and ask who let me in etc, etc. It is a major building complex and am very surprise they cannot dedicate any space for Muslims to pray in? Like I don't mind that this place is a dedicated Albanian Islamic school but maybe putting up some signs could have avoided situation like these? This is Staten Island so I do not think there is any Masjids around this one, this is not a Muslim country, there is a need for more safe prayer spots especially in a area like this. I see construction is being done, I sincerely hope that construction would be dedicated to building a Masjid for the community and not just be selfish amongst themselves. Maybe they will or won't I likely will never know since I won't be around this area since I live in a completely different borough.

10 months agoFirst of all, you can only pray Maghrib and Ishaโa here aside from Jummah prayer. A friend and I went here for Maghrib and Ishaโa and 4 men told us we could only pray downstairs even though we heard people praying upstairs. When we were praying Ishaโa they came behind us and while waiting for us to finish they said โsee what happens when we let people inโ and other rude remarks out loud WHILE WEโRE PRAYING. Donโt come here if you can help it, go to a different mosque because theyโre a joke.
