Check out the lower star reviews before proceeding to avoid large surprise bills. $405.98 for a simple pediatric x-ray WITH insurance.
[Situation - this is related to both the Cook Childrenโs pediatrician visit and how we were told to go to this facility] - My daughter had elbow pain after a fall at the daycare. She ALREADY had an x-ray completed the day before at an urgent care center but our pediatrician from Cook Childrenโs told us specifically go to this x-ray location (this is about 45 mins - 1 hour away from the office and where we live) instead of the urgent care next door because he will have access to the results. This gave the false impression that this was being billed under a single visit at the pediatrician office. My husband took my daughter to get x-rays done and they already knew she was coming to get it done. They did not provide any quotes on how much this is going to charge in addition to the Cook Childrenโs pediatrician bill (again giving the wrong impression that it was under the same visit). When we received the bill, instead of a single pediatrician bill, we were billed two separate bills. When we asked the Cook Childrenโs pediatrician office , they told us we need to talk with this Cook Childrenโs Dodson Specialty. Despite disputing the charges, we were told โall charges are valid and no changes will be made. Since your husband brought your daughter as a walk-in you should have negotiated the prices prior to the x-ray.โ We were never given a quote on the price so how are we supposed to negotiate before?!
Basically appears no different than a kickback scheme to me where Cook Childrenโs have default locations to refer each other in order to obtain and charge patients more money. We would have never drove 1 hour to just get a simple x-ray done when there are multiple facilities to get a comprehensive care where we live at a simple co-pay of $60 (my daughter had a wrist injury recently and thatโs all we paid for an x-ray and treatment).
After the dispute, we have filed a complaint with a patient advocate. The billing lady at Cook Childrenโs Dodson Specialty said โyou can talk to them but nothing will be done anyway.โ There should be more information available to patients before outpatient procedures are done prior to the patients receiving unexpected charges. Be careful out there folks!
I cannot express enough how amazing the Dodson Center is! Everyone is incredibly kind and helpful. Weโve had to go about 5 times so far and itโs truly amazing how easy everything is from start to finish. From parking, checking in, itโs all so streamlined. This is also without mentioning all of the other amazing areas they have! From a Starbucks, Build a Bear a Salon and more! I canโt express my love for this place enough.
The Registration part I don't like is because you have to go ๐down stairs to and back up again to let the โ๏ธreceptionist know that you have registered it's like aโ๏ธ 2 step process just to check in to see the doctor ๐งโโ๏ธ
Brittany from gastroenterology is so rude .
She laughed and didnโt even try to get someone to translate for a patients parent .
She kept telling the parent โwhatโs the name , I donโt see your name here โ with a smirk on her face . Thatโs very unprofessional and rude gor someone whoโs at the front desk
She couldโve at least asked someone else who works there to help and translate but she laughed instead and was giving the parent a hard time .
We were there for an ear tube procedure. The nurses kept my child happy and entertained throughout the whole process and were very communicative. I am impressed and pleased with what was an emotional event for this mama. Discharge was smooth, they had complimentary valet, and your vehicle was waiting as soon as you were discharged and exited the room.
