I am a medical oncologist who specializes in treating thoracic malignancies, including non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, thymoma and mesothelioma. I received my medical degree from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and completed my fellowship in hematology and oncology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. As a research scientist, my main focus is on early drug development, biomarker-driven clinical trials and cancer-related outcomes. My work has been published in such peer-review journals as Cancer, Clinical Lung Cancer and Journal of Clinical Oncology, and I have presented abstracts in national meetings in the field of lung cancer and cancer-related outcomes. Additionally, I received the Linda Arena Endowed Scholarship Award from the UH-Seidman Cancer Center to study targeted therapy in small cell lung cancer, and developed a clinical trial concept that received pharmaceutical support from Eli Lilly Oncology to fund the proposal. The concept was presented at the 2019 ASCO-AACR Methods in Clinical Cancer Research (MCCR) workshop in Vail, Colo.ย ย I am passionate about medical oncology because of the special relationship and meaningful human connection that I develop with my patients. These relationships are what I enjoy most about working at The James โ not only with my patients but my colleagues as well. The James offers a family environment with supportive leadership and collaborators, and itโs great to be part of a team that is all working toward the shared goal of conquering cancer.
