Like the original Beatnik West Town, Beatnik On The River offers guests an exotic escape with breathtaking views of the Chicago River paired with a boho-chic interior design, and progressive, globetrotting food and cocktails.
Established in 2018.
In July 2018, BOTR debuted its 80-seat riverfront patio filled with Indonesian daybeds, Moroccan lanterns and lush greenery. A year later, the interior area was unveiled transforming the Loop venue into an otherworldly space by means of the 1913 Nashville jewelry shop installed inside it. Out front, a weather-permitting patio echoes the Morocco-meets-Bali vibe. Mirroring the restaurant’s design, Executive Chef Marcos Campos’ cuisine takes a global approach, melding ingredients from around the world. Bold flavors, original combinations and creative presentations are hallmarks of Campos’ culinary style. Cocktails are inventive and colorful, often finding inspiration in ingredients from the kitchen, creating a harmonious relationship between what’s being served on the plates and in the glasses. Exotic garnishes follow a no-waste sensibility utilizing ingredients found in the cocktails they adorn.

a month agoSuch a cute spot! The patio is right by the river, and architecture boat tours passes by right in front of you. The view is amazing and interior design is also phenomenal and vibrant. Great music and nice environment overall! - octopus & hummus: Octopus is tender and combined with the curry has a good smokiness flavor. Flavor wise the dish is pretty salty, so definitely need the hummus to balance it out.

a week agoWe came out for the final day of this summer 2024. The hostess couldnโt accommodate our request to sit on the patio by the river even though there are at least 3 empty tables down there. We really wanted the view by the river. However we settled for the front patio instead. The view there is lackluster in the front. The food was ok and it is on the pricey side. We need the steak and eggs, fried chicken with peas and shuhaka with naan bread. The food isnโt bad. They are just pricy. The service was okay but they were really busy. I felt our request could have been accommodated. The hostess wasnโt very accommodating and explain the reservation system well. So therefore only 4 stars. I would otherwise think everything is ok if she would have worked with us.

a week agoSeems like they should put more energy into their staff and the food. Tourist trap because of the decor and location. Although the space is cute, there are much better places in the city. Had the shakshuka, mezze platter, avocado toast, and fries. It all was frankly mediocre. All the brunch items came with just the item and no side salad or anything. Just felt bland. Also the cinnamon roll was cold and hard. Couldโve warmed it up. Staff was very cold and didnโt seem like they wanted to be there

a week agoGreat location, superb decor. Seating right on the river. Although my fellow diners were happy with their food, in fact they loved it, my steak just seemed dry and too voluminous. It was also strange coming in to the facility since I came in a door that was led to the stairway down but was told that wasnโt the way in, so I went back to the road and went to the bold frontage. It is odd, since we came out the way I nearly went in. At least that is how it appeared to me. Additionally I would say the service was poor. The waiter hardly came to the table to replenish our drinks. So, overall disappointing. But great location. Maybe we were just unlucky.

a month agoEnjoyed a late lunch here for my birthday and it was great. Food was delicious - tried the Beet Mutabbal, Hummus & Octopus (11 stars!), and Avocado spreads for apps with the Pisco Punch cocktail, and the Lamb Shank Feast for the main course. Rounded everything out with the Lemon Pie for dessert. Beautiful ambiance by the river with a quit view of the hustle & bustle - made me remember and appreciate that I call this beautiful city home. I recommend.
