For over 31 years, the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) has served as the unifying force that brings together over 400,000 Muslim Americans in the greater Chicago region, and now increasingly all of Illinois. With over 70 member organizations, ranging from mosques to Islamic schools and community organizations based in the Chicagoland region, the CIOGC is made up of a very large and diverse body. Muslims are represented by a wide array of ethnicities, races, and cultures, including African Americans, Nigerians, South Asians, Arabs, Bosnians, Albanians, Turks, Latinos, Caucasians, and many more. The Council brings these extraordinary communities together in cooperation and collaboration to engage and work with the interfaith community, government, media, and the public in general.

6 years agoOne of the organizations under this group, al furquan, has been writing and sending materials to my husband for a couple of years. We told them on phone for years, called multiple times to remove our names from their database. Apparently they don't listen to people or they intend to force their religion down our throats. We got the card for their fundraiser today in the mail. After calling them so many times to remove our names. Al furquan and council of Islamic organizations, do your targeting very well. That my husband has an ethnic name doesn't mean he is a Muslim. Stop trying to force Christians into your organizations, we are not Muslim and have a right to practice our Christian beliefs in the United States ๐บ๐ธ of all countries. Clean up your database as you won't like my church group to be harassing you consistently like you have done for years. We are not Muslim and do not belong to any of your Islamic organizations. Everyone is entitled to their belief. Stop Al furquan and this group or we might be forced to take legal action to get our names off your list!
