I met with Dr.Hanna on 8/6/24. He was very nice and professional. Dr. Hanna asked me questions about my symptoms. He answered all of my questions. We came up with a plan. I'm very happy with Dr Hanna and his office.

I met Dr. Hanna at the beginning of October and had recently had a procedure. My impression of him is that he is skilled and knowledgeable doctor. However, in my experience he is not a good listener, nor does he have the capacity to empathize. His staff, almost without exception, were excellent, kind, friendly and were very good at putting me at ease. At my initial visit I listed the difficult symptoms that I have been dealing with for years, and early on he locked-in on one statement and from then on became laser focused on the idea of disproving an old diagnosis. He formed his opinion, and it was evident that he stopped listening. After the recent procedure he happily showed evidence that he was correct in his assessment and restated this finding several times, as if to disabuse me of a wrong idea even though what he found did not contradict anything that I had told him, and though I acknowledged his findings and later repeated them so he could see that I understood. In the middle of these repetitions, I tried to ask him what could be done then to help with my actual symptoms since that was the entire reason for my being there. Unfortunately, I felt that he treated my concerns as an afterthought, giving halfhearted suggestions off the top of his head that were less than helpful. These suggestions seriously belittled my years of effort in coping with my illness and I would have been offended had I believed that he had listened to my patient history in my first visit. It is slightly possible that there will be some meaningful follow-up, but I am not expecting much, nor do I have any interest in advocating for it lest I have another conversation like the first two.

Dr Hanna is a Gem and I will go to him whenever I have a problem which is addressed under his specialty. This guy is smart, cares about people and provides great service with very little waiting. Glad to know he is in Tucson and to add to that, the nurse who took care of me through the proceedure, Nurse Marcia, was a pleasure, she was fantastic and a wonderful addition to Dr Hanna's staff. Dr Hanna is also the only Dr who ever responded to one of my reviews of him.

If I could give this Doctor a zero I would. I requested that the VA send me to this Doctor since he did my colonoscopy at the VA Hospital. That was a mistake. When I schedule the appointment I saw Miss Helen (not a doctor). She started the whole conversation with it was not a GI problem. She decided it was nerve damaged. She was rude and would not let me talk. I went back a month later with same concerns, but again she did not want to listen. The Office Manager was also rude and called me a few days later and said โ€œfine the Doctor will see you in a month from now, but only after you run do all the test that you have already done again!โ€ I have gotten huge relief from the medicine my PCP has given me and was hoping that I could get an appointment with him to address my concerns, but he had no desire to help me. Sad thing is that I could hear him when I was in the exam room talking to the Office Manager. She was telling him that I would like to see him. Right before she came in and said he was gone for the day. I have been in severe pain, so I put in a request with Senator Mark Kelly to have the VA refer me to a Community GI Specialist that respects and value Veterans. Personally I think he should be off their list so that no Veteran will ever request his services again. This Doctor does not understand why Veterans go outside the VA. Veteran or no Veteran. There is no compassion or desire to help the patient! if you want a Doctor that cares about his patients this is not the Doctor.
