If you're living nearby, it's a great facility to have at hand. I have to travel 40+ miles each way in mood-altering traffic, and pray for a parking space. My last visit was quick & efficient, even with an unscheduled stop in a different department. Sometimes I will find myself in a crowded waiting room for hours...depends what you're there for, I suppose. Coming from northwest Broward, I have to figure on a whole workday missed for ANY reluctantly accepted appointment here. But the staff are usually friendly and helpful--I would STILL be trying to find the office I needed without their assistance. Nurse, janitor, clerical, surgeon, cafeteria worker--doesn't matter. Someone will have a moment to send me where I need to be.

We were visiting a patient today, and really had a great experience here. When we first arrived, there was a bit of the wait as they had to make sure we were allowed to visit. Your name has to be on an approved list, and then vetted, which wasn't quite down when we had arrived. However, with the help of some super friendly staff, we were able to go upstairs to visit! Every physician, nurse, and employee we encountered were very friendly. The patient rooms are small, but do have some state of the art tech for the patient (i.e. entertainment, medical records, meal ordering service, etc.). I was impressed! The parking lot is large and not too far from the main entrance, and the corridors in-between are covered and have large fans to keep the air moving. Overall, this is a great facility. And really, don't we need great for our veterans?! I think so!

A BIG UPs to the VA ER team on the night I visited (my visit was on 23Jun19 around 8p. I was welcomed by an extremely helpful young man as I entered the emergency room, he was very nice (wish I knew his name, but I remembered, he had a slight airfro). Erica (Sunshine) "good mornin" was amazing she was very nice and pleasant. Anna RN, ย Dr. E. Pulg (Critical Care), Christian H and one other guy sorry...you know who you are were wonderful I making sure I received the care I was seeking. I forgot/lost my meds during my travels to the Miami area on the way on a cruise. I was going to be away from home for a week. I quickly found the closest VA to the hotel I was staying and visited for what I thought would be a dreaded visit, but it was nothing even close to what I received. Everyone took care of me procedurally with the best of care. Being a sister VA (John D. Dingell) employee/veteran I was treated with the best of care and respect. My visit was quick and effective, I got the care I came for and now I can enjoy my vacation without the worry of having a possible health scare, thank you VAMC Miami from #johnddingell #detroit #whereveteranscomefirst #vamcmiami

Happened to have an appointment at the VA and they were celebrating The Beginning of June. With Flag raising and a Rainbow themed Cake. It was so good. I heard someone say it was from Stonewall in Broward.

The place was packed. Upon arrival the attendee stated I was in the computer, but they did not have me scheduled for an appointment. And yet there I stood . After a 4 hr. drive, an over night stay in Miami at an overpriced hotel, and not wanting to get caught in Miami's glorious rush hour traffic during my trip back to Key West . The Normal standard issue non communication problems that always seem to plague the VA is something I didn't need to hear about. I told the guy that if you couldn't get me in that was fine I would just leave because I wasn't going to stand around the VA all day those people couldn't figure out scheduling. He was staring at my name on the computer screen and I was standing in his waiting room. It seemed pretty self-explanatory to me. Somehow The attendee worked it out and apparently got me the appointment that I was supposed to be at. Abput an hour later, I was invited to a room about half the size of a broom closet and ask to change. Looking at the gowns that were overflowing in the trash can and not being able to identify the substance that was on them . I opted to change in the hallway. More room and a lot cleaner. The procedure went well the staff was nice and I had a very nice attendee even escort me out to the front door. Because apparently I look lost. It went a lot better than I expected. But it's definitely not the five star service that Veterans of this great nation should be getting. Of course that could just be my opinion.
