2 years agoMake sure you validate your ticket. It would have been nice to know what was wrong with my leg. No one could tell me that. My primary care doctor helped me a lot. I got a shot to help with the pain and he gave me a muscle relaxer which really helped my leg stretch out more so I was finally able to wear shoes again. He even referred me to Ortho and Ortho was able to fit me in their schedule the next day. Ortho was useless though. The overall energy was very socialable, moreso amongst themselves than with us the actual patients. Overall, it was like I was at a... You'll never guess it... a university. Lol. I would recommend this place. They seem very efficient. They try their best to get you out with quality care so you can get your medicine and go back to work.

a week agoUPDATE: My father has now passed away from his brain injury which occurred under the โcareโ of UTMB for a lung infection. UTMB KILLED MY FATHER. DO NOT GO HERE. My father went in with a lung infection and now has a traumatic brain injury and will in all likelihood never come home. Patient Advocacy did nothing and no one has been held accountable nor will they because they are blocked from litigation. The โinvestigationโ that was โconductedโ internally was a joke. UTMB is careless and unprofessional. Read all the newest reviews; every one of those one star reviews is correct. Now my mother has lost her husband, we have lost our father, and an injury that occurred in their โcareโ has stolen his life from him. He is only 62 and can no longer walk, talk, or breathe on his own. And patient services, save your efforts responding. I will never buy what you pretend to sell.

3 months agoMy sister wound up at UTMB for a complex spinal surgery that left her in need of extensive rehab. The doctors were great, but rarely seen or heard from. Nurses and PTs were hit or miss. The care manager was horrendous, and unfortunately her role was critical in our case. We saw her once in the 6 days at the hospital, and she was immediately making excuses about what she may or may not be able to find and coordinate in terms of post-surgical rehab. We tried calling her several times afterwards to follow up and she didn't answer or return calls once. My sister was suddenly discharged without warning late on a Saturday, still unable to walk without significant help, handed a paper bag full of pills, and put in a medical taxi for the 3+ hour drive back to her house, with ZERO plan for her post-surgical PT and care. Our family, who lives 1200 miles away, is now doing the care manager's job for her and coordinating my sister's post-surgical care. The utter abdication of her role in my sister's scenario is unconscionable.

a month agoPity they don't have a "zero star" option. In one sentence: incompetent twits in lab coats. Also, I refused the swill they dared to call "food", and subsisted on ice-water for the length of my last (final?) stay for 3 days of "observation". However the non-lab coat people (phone workers, service desks, etc.)are lovely.
