in the last weekMy mom recently had a surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The day of the surgery was Oct 30, 2024 and we were not sent home with enough supplies to take care of her. After asking the nurse who discharged us if she could get us a new box, because the one she was sending us with had been being used by the nurses for several days and I could tell that there was NOT the two weeks worth of supplies they promised us. Today is Nov 20, 2024 and we have still not received enough supplies to care for my mom. Iโm beyond grateful for the care we received while we were physically on the Mayo Clinic property, but I am appalled at how weโre being redirected and told that itโs not their fault now that weโre home and struggling. If you want to be known as one of the best hospitals in the country, then you really need to follow through on aftercare and other promises you made to your patient.

a year agoThe best healthcare hospital in the world. I'm impressed and grateful every time I visit. It is moving when guests and/or patients sit down at the piano. Check out this display where they honor the pioneer women of the Mayo family.

in the last weekReceived excellent care while we were physically at the clinic, but ran into major problems while being discharged. We were not sent home with enough supplies to take care of the stoma after procedure so Iโve had to sit in my own urine for two weeks while I recover causing severe irritation and swelling to an already sensitive area. While we wait for responses from nurses and doctors, we are doing our best to keep it from getting infected. Mayo nurses assigned blame to my local medical supply store, but I know thatโs not the case. We have been blessed to receive multiple kinds of urostomy bags from our local hospitals, sadly most of them did not work for my body and they leaked almost every time. We are STILL waiting to receive proper medical accessories I need to have basic quality of life. Daniel, Hallie, and Kendra made our Mayo trip peaceful and informative. They did an amazing job, but whoever was supposed to make sure we had the supplies we needed before we left for our 12 hour drive back home failed us completely and Iโm legitimately worried I may not heal my stoma properly, potentially causing permanent harm to the area.

a year agoThe Mayo Clinic is such a special place! Itโs a medical facility that could also be a museum of art museum, history, and architecture. People travel from all over the world to be treated here, but what makes it truly special are the compassionate, skilled, and dedicated employees. I stood outside the Mayo Building and watched bus after bus pull up to the staff entrance - and watched countless everyday heroes get off those buses and go to work performing โmiraclesโ at a place that provides hope to people who need it most.
