When we first entered the woman at the front desk didn't even lift her eyes from the computer to greet us. "Name?" was all the greeting we got. My mother's appointment was made over 2 months ago and she had confirmed with them that the physician takes her insurance at the time of making her appointment. But it seems that no one knows what insurances they take or don't because the woman at the front desk said they don't take mine. I wish she told my mother and me in a patient and respectful way. When I tried explaining to her my mother's unique insurance circumstances, she brushed me off and spoke over me hoping to shut me up. She belittled me and made me feel like the largest inconvenience in the world. Not only this, but my mother is in chronic pain and she felt it entirely appropriate to speak to her as though she is a child. Having worked in healthcare for years, I know that some patience from staff can go a long way but it seems she didn't know this. The rest of the staff stood around gawking at this scene as though it were a car accident. When I asked the others if there's in anyone in billing I can speak to, no one knew if the billing department was currently in or who they would call. This office is poorly managed and rude. All of this and I didn't even see the doctor. Do not go here.

If I could give a negative rating I would. Dr. Benchaala is very rude and abrupt. He listens to REPLY, He doesn't listen to HEAR what the patient is saying. I felt worse leaving this office than I did coming for my appointment. He needs to work on his people skills and how to talk to patients as well as listen to what the patient is telling him. The office staff is amazing as well as the patient techs.

Disregarded my symptoms that occurred after injections and told me to just diet ,without knowing anything about my background . He is extremely closed minded and will not consider any options outside of black and white results.

If I could give this review negative stars I would. Dr Benchaala literally left me in the lurch regarding my medical treatment. He was supposed to submit a request to my insurance company for an approval, and I never heard back. I mean NEVER. What kind of doctor does that?? I left several messages-including emails. No one called me back. Not for a follow up, not even to discuss what would be next. I transferred my care to U of M and Trinity Health and never looked back.

This physician clearly didn't take me seriously at all. He came in, bent my joints for less than 30 seconds and pronounced that I definitely don't have RA. He spent a total of 2 minutes with me. He barely spoke with me at all. He spoke with the physician under him and not to me. When I asked him to explain why my joints were deformed and swollen on my fingers, he informed me that they just were. That isn't a medical opinion or a diagnosis. He ignored all of my family history entirely. He was rude, smarmy, pompous, condescending, and sexist. Here's the thing: this isn't a small thing that I'm coming in for. I made this appointment because my symptoms are incapacitating. I seriously question this man's ability to empathize with his patients and his professional judgment. It took me two seconds with Google to find out that joint laxity/connective tissue disorders do occur with RA, frequently in fact. I'm a single mother on disability, caring for three kids with special needs. If I allowed this man's lack of critical thinking skills to determine what happens with my body, my children would suffer right along with me. Not to mention that he completely ignored my other symptoms of slurred speech, lack of coordination, difficulty walking, and continuous involuntary shaking. I have rarely been so insulted and offended literally in my entire life.
