Dr. Lana Abusalem is an infectious disease specialist in Durham, North Carolina. She received her medical degree from University of Jordan Faculty of Medicine and has been in practice between 6-10 years.
I don't recommend this hospital. They roughed my girlfriend up after her surgery and she was terrified. She got out of being put to sleep and was in the recovery area/floor, while on the phone I asked to talk to someone and they said why? As if I can't check up on her and ask how she is doing? That in itself is a joke. As far as the nurses and doctors, half of them are great and seem to care, the other half seem to care less. If you need a surgery done, I'd probably check another place out, the recovery nurses seem to be extremely disrespectful and unprofessional.
Duke University hospital is a stellar group of knowledgeable medical professionals. Fortunately, we have only had to visit twice, but recently my mother-in-law was transferred here from another hospital as she was suffering from lung disease. The staff was magnificent! After spending a week elsewhere, she was diagnosed, treated, and back home on the way to recovery! In June my daughter gave birth to our 4th grandson after being diagnosed with a congenital heart disease prior to birth. The nudes, doctors, and neonatal staff were phenomenal. We were all treated like family, well taken care of and always upbeat and friendly. This hospital is huge, parking is crazy, and it does take quite a hike to get from place to place. There is a cafeteria on site and a Starbucks that is open 24 hours, woo-hoo! If you or your family is in need of expert medical care, I would definitely recommend this hospital.
They are great when it comes to cancer surgery. But poor when it comes to making family comfortable for the over night stay with my husband I had to sleep in a hard recliner chair. Not made for sleeping in a room that had a curtain for privacy and all you here is people walking up and down in front of your room and talking in the hall so that is why the only get 3 star's very uncomfortable. Oh and it was not a room that had a restroom in it that was across the hall mind you he did have sarcom cancer tumor removal from his inner thigh.
My Sister is at Duke, and I must say between high prices for families to eat for long periods at a time is ridiculous. My Sisters room on the third floor was horrible, extremely hot due to no air flow in her room and yes it was reported, and a broken bed that would call the nurses for no reason but when my sister really needed someone no one would come due to them thinking it was a bed malfunction. And it’s crazy in ICU patients pick what they want to order but in a regular room it’s whatever is on the menu, kinda backwards don’t you think. And the sleeping chair in the regular rooms are so uncomfortable and only has a sit up position. Nurses in hall laughing at all hours of the morning. Also none comes back and picks up food trays and trash left to flow over on the floor
Number one in NC for a reason. I’ve been using Duke health for many years for outpatient care, and my recent hospital stay shows why I choose them for health care. From the ER all the way to discharge I was given the absolute highest level of care. The Doctors did take a while to come up with a plan for treatment, but I understand this due to the unfamiliar nature of my case and I won’t hold it against them. They showed that they truly do care, even if my condition is not that common. Also, huge shoutout to the nursing staff at unit 7800, all hospitals should be modeling their nursing off of them!! At no point did I ever feel neglected. Hopefully I won’t need to seek hospitalization anytime soon, but it is reassuring to know that Duke Hospital has a top notch team.
