You may find a line at our charming townhouse turned restaurant, but it will be worth the wait! Georgeโs was opened in 1982 and is a traditional Middle Eastern restaurant with hints of Lebanese and Syrian flavors. As one of the only late-night dining options in Georgetown our customers have come to rely on us as a central meeting place, day or night. Many of our guests leave behind a bill of choice, taped to our walls with a handwritten message. We have been fortunate enough to serve politicians such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton, comedians like D.C. native Dave Chapelle and many more local and global celebrities.
Absolutely everything we make is homemade daily, using only the freshest ingredients from recipes that we continuously test and improve over time to create new interpretations of our favorite dishes. We offer everything from kebabs to seafood to a variety of vegetarian options. Enjoy the deliciousness to stay or to go.
For first-timers trying Middle Eastern food, not to worry, one of our team members will be happy to help you navigate our menu and find what will likely become your newest craving.

3 months agoWe visited George's King of Falafel and Cheesesteak around 1 AM. Despite the late hour, there were still a few customers, indicating the place's popularity. My boyfriend had fond memories of their shawarma from a previous visit, but this time, the quality fell short. The service was efficient but lacked the warm, traditional Middle Eastern hospitality, focusing more on quick transactions. I ordered a gyro, craving the rich taste of lamb, but it didn't live up to my expectations. It seems something has changed, possibly due to new management. I appreciate traditional flavors and am willing to drive to DC for that authentic experience, but I didn't find the wow factor here. On a positive note, the French fries were good, and the place's late hours are convenient. Overall, it's okayโnot bad, but not the best. I want to give it 4 stars because I see potential. If they concentrate on better quality meat, more traditional bread, and service that makes you feel at home, this place could truly shine.

2 months agoComing from Dubai, I didnโt expect the shawarma here to outshine what Iโm used to back there. But wow, I was absolutely blown away! This place delivers shawarma thatโs far better than any restaurant Iโve tried in Dubai โ and Iโve tried a lot! The flavors are rich, the chicken is perfectly tender, and the seasoning is spot on. If youโre a shawarma lover in the states specifically DC, this spot is an absolute must-visit. Truly exceeded all my expectations.

3 months agoWe visited this place with family and friends on way back form DC trip . It has nice seating place on 2nd floor and often get crowded if go late ( weekend could be even heavily busy ) good service and decent menu options. I have definitely recommend Cheese Streak sandwich , shawarma was also fine (bit hyped in my opinion) though should try together with Hummus / Garlic sauce. For first time visitors I would recommend Chicken platter / shawarma , Beef Steak sandwich. Parking is always an issue in DC but you can get free parking on weekdays after 7 pm . Should offer both spicy and regular shawarma for someone who likes spicy food .
