a year agoThe ambience, the Mass and the parishioners all speak well of what a Catholic parish should portray. We attended a weekday mass. The church is so beautiful. If I remember correctly, before Mass the Rosary was said in Latin. There were several large families. The priest enunciated beautifully and the server spoke up, too. We were blessed to find this wonderful church which celebrates the Traditional Latin Mass.

3 years agoFirst a bit of background:I am a senior that uses public transportation. I use a walker and wear elastic knee braces under long pants. Bus routes changed just before the pandemic so I had to change from my prior parish. Attire here is very conservative. 90% of the women and girls wear long dresses or skirts and veils or hats. Men are in suits or dress shirts. Here I was in Jeans and no veil. Not a single person smiled at me, welcomed me as a new attendee, or extended courtesy towards helping a senior navigating with a walker. I was viewed as an "outsider" who didn't meet their standards the entire time I attended Mass here. One time I walked 1/2 mile from the bus stop in a light rain. Not one car on the way to Mass stopped to offer me a ride to Mass. I have occasionally attended Mass at several different churches in Tucson. Never was made to feel like a pariah like I was here. At one church a few people remembered me from attending there a month earlier and welcomed me with smiles and greetings.

5 years agoI was here two years ago and the communities ability to sing and pray the High Latin Mass has come a long way since then. It was beautiful and very well done. It can be difficult for the average Catholic who is not familiar with the Tridentine Mass to follow along or understand but they have good guides. If you're not familiar, if recommend one of the English Mass'. But I find the Latin, when done well, to be a richer experience. If you are in Tucson, I'd recommend going here. Remember to dress formally too.
Unus Dominus una fides unum sancta ecclesia
3 years agoWe are blessed to have heard the call from our Lord Jesus Christ to move to this community. The reverence and the love for Christ, For His precious Body and Blood the Holy Eucharist is beautiful. The LOVE for Christ is what unites us under one family its the bond that each and every person has here for our Lord is what being a true Catholic is all about. Young, Old, Single, or Families, Rich or Poor. We are all moved to be in total submission to the will of God. We are nothing away from God but when we accept his truth and allow his light to shine upon us we are brought into Communion with Him. Give yourself the chance experience the True and only Path towards God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Viva Cristo Rey!

6 years agoI have found at other parishes that the Mass is way too liberal, way too Protestant-minded, much too casual and more like a barbecue than worship. I have found here that the Latin Mass is holy, reverent, uniquely Roman Catholic and uncompromising. I grew up in the 1970s with the post-Vatican 2 Novo Ordus Mass, and I found even the most fervent Masses to be confusing and in disunity, everybody doing different things. The attendees at St. Gianna Oratory behave better, too. There is modest dress and silence, among other blessings. I was happy to see a lot of young people there, too!
