Iowa City Mosque/Al-Iman Center

This review is based on the Eid prayer organization. They were not prepared for having a large number of women and children attend which is unacceptable. Women hardly had a prayer space in the parking lot between the cars. They easily could have been better accommodated for if the parking lot was blocked off completely for the Eid prayer, especially when there is parking near by at the school, Willow Creek Park and near by streets off Benton St. Also, the least they could do is have a speaker at the side door so those praying outside can faintly hear the prayer. Lastly, it was dangerous to have cars moving around those attending the prayer, especially when there were many children in the area. This was very upsetting for me to see, and I hope organizers see this and take my comments seriously for future Eid prayers.

The Iowa city mosque is the only one available in the Iowa city/ coralville area. 5 daily prayers are performed here (you may find it locked between prayers). There is an Islamic school on the weekends and several youth activities (see flyers inside). Door for ladies is in front of the parking lot, ladies may also use the back door to pray behind the curtain in the men’s area. Very humble and kind community members.
