In all the years I have visited Jones. They have never let me down. Ever had a bad experience let alone a bad meal. I understand we are coming off a hurricane and power was restored two days prior. So I give them a bit of a pass. But damn. I ordered takeout and on my return home I open my container. To my surprise I was shocked at the lack of serving size. The chicken tenders were half the size Iโ€™m use to. The amount of fries and okra was insulting. The boxes are usually full and heavy. Looking at pics on this site and others. Jones been skimping on the food for a minute. Is. Also, something was off with the okra. It was a bit overcooked. Like they reheated some okra they had already cooked. It didnโ€™t taste the same. Iโ€™ll give them one more chance. If my experience does change. This long time customer will go elsewhere.

The food was good, but the service was disappointing. I forgot to add a drink to my order initially, which was my mistake. When I asked to add a drink afterward, the server told me it was only possible if I paid with cash and then walked away. This behavior felt quite rude. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a drink as I didn't have cash on hand.

Good food. I had the 15pc shrimp with rice. The rice was amazing. The shrimp a bit over cooked but edible.

Had the worst experience at Jones today. I ordered four chicken and lamb over rice. After receiving my order, I noticed that both the big and small boxes had the same white sauce container. When I asked for extra sauce, they refused, stating that it would cost an additional $0.75 for each sauce, even though it should be free. Its Ramadan and Iโ€™m about to break my fast in an hour, so didn't want to argue, so I agreed to pay with my credit card. However, they said they charge a minimum of $5 for card transactions. I swear to Allah If I had cash, I would have paid just to move on but I didn't. I kept asking the manager what they wanted me to do, Iโ€™ll look stupid spending $5 on sauce despite everything the manager said I should deal with it next time bring cash or request extra sauce ahead of time. How would I know I need extra sauce in advance?? Iโ€™m deeply disappointed by how I was treated and how they made a big deal out of $0.75 where I had spent $50. I don't believe I deserved such treatment, and I urge jone management to train your staff on how to deal customers with respect. Iโ€™ll never come back and try my best friends and family not to go there anymore.

I've been coming to Jones for YEARS at this point, and honestly, the food is amazing when compared to other New York Style halal plates. The rice and meat is always seasoned well (even the regular rice), and the sauce on top is delicious. The portion sizes can be nice and big as well. If there was a complaint, it's that the fried chicken doesn't actually come with its own sauce. In terms of service, while the staff can be quite terse and serious, they are never rude and are very quick when it comes to actually getting the food out. Now, while my friends and I normally do take-out, we do sometimes decide to dine-in. And while the seating area is clean, the building feels quite old and dated, but it's not a bad experience. All-in-all, if you're looking for halal plates in Houston, Jones blows the competition out of the water in terms of flavor, and while the service and dining experience can most definitely be improved, they don't take away from the amazing food.
