2 years agoHow do you know if 786 nail polish is halal? As such, for nail polish to be halal, it has to fulfil two major requirements: it must be free of impermissible ingredients and must allow water to reach the nail beds for proper wudu. 786 Nail polish can be categorized as halal as the paint does not contain haram ingredients however as you can see in the experiment done it can’t be “breathable” because it does not allow oxygen and water to penetrate into the pores of the nail. So that it can be used for daily life without disturbing wudu and prayers. The halal certification from KIC maybe is just for the organic halal ingredients used in 786 nailpolish as there is harmful chemicals commonly found other typical nail polish on the market. However as you can see in the picture for the 786 nailpolish product that claim to have unique breathability that allows water to permeate through the nail polish, so these nails are categorized as halal nail polish cannot be used during wudu. As seen in the picture 786 does not absorb water, the few drops of water on the surface of the nail polish that has dried on the paper, you can see that the water doesn’t penetrate through the paper at all. The opposite side of the paper visibly remained dry even after polish was rubbed and left the paper with water for several hours. From these experiments, it was proven that water could not penetrate the surface of this nail polish at all. The question arises whether this nail polish is really halal and safe to use when performing ablution. While I was living in Canada I was wearing 786 and immediately stopped after finding out it’s not really halal. It seems that other users also agree with the doubts about the halalness of this nail polish. One argues that ablution is acceptable if water can run over the surface of the nails and not just a few minutes drops reaching your nails. So even though it is claimed to be halal, breathable, permeable, it is still considered invalid to perform wudu with any nail polish. The halal claim submitted by this brand means it is halal in terms of ingredients, namely there is no animal-derived in it but it does not make it water permeable.
