Lyla and her husband, Bill, were frustrated with the lack of affordable, healthy, and Mediterranean options among the many sub shops and pizzerias that dominated the east side. Eventually, Lyla and Bill decided toย establish a business that catered to the needs of the community.
Two years later, Lyla’s Catering and carry-out Lebanese deli was launched. Offering fresh, traditional, and affordable Lebanese food, Lyla’s aims to evoke memories of past Sunday family dinners.
Lyla’s passion for food began when she was just 14 years old, when she asked Ed Housey, the caterer at St. Maron’s, for a job in the kitchen. At first, he declined due to her young age, but after persistently asking, he eventually relented.
Under Housey’s guidance, Lyla learned the labor-intensive techniques required to create authentic Lebanese cuisine by working weekends and summers. Later, Lyla further honed her craft, graduating from Schoolcraft College Culinary Program.ย
Lyla and her kitchen staff prepare made-to-order Lebanese sandwiches, salads, entrees, soup, and many other Lebanese favorites, such as lamb grape leaves, vegetarian grape leaves, baked kibbee, falafel, tabouli, hummus, and more. We offerย a catering menu that provides carry-out in party trays or a customized menu that Lyla will help you create for your special event. Lyla’s also offers delivery, set-up, or full-service options to the location of your event.

a year ago** This is a carry-out or catering only place. No tables inside. ** Reading recent comments, I was concerned if the place was not good anymore compared to a year or more ago. I'm not sure why or how some people had bad experiences, but my visit today was pleasant. The ladies are still the same. So, on the matter of the spinach pie. They now have a sign that says it is available every Saturday. They also have a sandwich combo menu that comes with a sandwich, one side (rice, salad, or soup), and a beverage at $8.99. I almost always get a yogurt drink at Lebanese restaurants, but they don't carry it here because it doesn't sell in this area. Too bad people are missing it. :)

3 weeks agoLyla herself has just an unpleasant vibe, what is her deal? But according to other comments I guess Iโm not the only one that notices. I make an effort to support small businesses, even if their product is just okay. But the food lacking any oomph coupled with Lylaโs constant bad attitude.

a month agoThis is my go to Lebanese spot in the area! The staff is so friendly, I believe their family owns and I certainly feel the love every time I walk in there. The food is healthy and tasty!

a year agoI came here Tuesday and Wednesday and noticed that the ladies were on their own time. I understand filling sauces and reserving a table for dinner a week later is a great reason to leave the customer at the register without acknowledgement. Fine. had two very amzing sandwiches. I go back today expecting the same type of service so I was talking on the phone because I am from out of state taking care of business and the lady acts like Iโm not there. Rudely asking me if I needed something.. well yes I need my order. She proceeded to tell me itโs rude to talk on the phone. Thatโs your opinion. I put my two bean salad and beet salad back and she gave me the sandwich for free. I do not take handouts. Make sure you treat each customer with the same respect. I walked out with nothing. Wonโt be returning due to rude staff.

6 months agoNot sure what the hype is. Fattoush with chicken was not that great. Chicken had zero flavor and dressing was not that great. Pita chips in the salad were somewhat too hard and blah. Hard to find food quality food these days. And as for the staffโฆ.most stood around. And a few had strong personalities. Eh donโt get it!
