Masjid Al-Malik was established in 1973 by a few Muslim families in Orlando and the surrounding Central Florida area, intending initially to secure a place to pray together as a community. Little did this handful group of pioneers realize they were actually laying the foundation for the largest and most diverse community of Muslims in Central Florida.
By the early 1980s, the families acquired property on Goldenrod Road with a small house on it. This house served as the first unofficial Masjid while a new building was in the initial stages of construction on the same property. With the blessings of God and the contributions of the humble and growing community, brick by brick the first official Masjid in Central Florida was eventually built around 1985. As the community started to grow and waited patiently for the new building to be constructed, the blessed shade of a large oak tree in front of the house served as additional space for the community to perform congregational prayers and Eid celebrations under.

4 months agoUnfortunately It is a business place to collect donations under Godโs name I Hate it when I am in a place called house of God and I only hear and being asked to donate. Not just once even if you did it they will ask you in many different ways to donate again and again and again. ($1000) is a big money to ask people to donate!!!

7 months agoThis is hands down my FAVORITE mesjid in the Orlando-ish area, but I have one complaint and Iโm only discussing it here because Iโve tried to discuss it with the imam a few times at this point. This mosque doesnโt like having young kids in the womenโs section during khutbahs, which is fair. However, there is an entire kids room with toys in it that remains LOCKED and unused-even during Ramadan. As a result, I was only able to visit the mesjid 2x during last Ramadan and Iโve gone to ONE Jummah prayer since I moved. As a revert, this is extremely disappointing. The Sahaba didnโt prevent their wives from visiting the mesjid. Iโd like this issue resolved. If the room can be opened up, I can go to Quran classes and prayers. I hope this issue is resolved soon. Letโs teach kids to enjoy the mesjid from a young age. Not to mention the prophet saw didnโt discourage kids from playing in the mesjid.

6 months agoThis is such a beautiful masjid with a welcoming & diverse community! It is incredibly spacious & has many resources. They host Iftars & other events, that are open to everyone. I've been twice, once for a visiting lecturer and for Ramadan Iftar.
