4 months agoA wonderful and well rounded, not too large nor too small mosque to strengthen your faith and Iman in Allah SWT. Very family oriented and a great place for anyone of any age to grow his knowledge of Islam, the Quran and the prophet Muhammad PBUH.

6 months agoI spoke with a Muslim convert brother at the ASU Palestine demonstration who was one of the most interesting people I had ever met, so respectful, knowledgeable, kind, and honorable, and he mentioned this Masjid. I didn't write down his name correctly, but I wanted to tell someone how this man was a great ambassador and an example of the Islamic faith and taught me so much in the short time I spent talking with him. His name was Brother Brad, and if anyone there knows him tell him I thank him deeply and truly for the chance to walk with such a man of faith and Inshallah I will meet him again and many more like him. Whatever is taught here is truth. I knew that from his words. Thank you for being teachers, keepers of light, and know that there are "people of the book" who know you by your deeds and will forever stand by the truth of our sameness, use our differences to shield eachother from the darkness in this place, and link arms to place our bodies between your truth and the snarling wolves we face together. I can't say anything more without ruining it. But I just wanted to give thanks to the guidance of Allah even as a man of the book because his emissary was a humble reflection of his patience and wisdom that night. Once again and with the utmost humility and from the absolute depths of my heart, trult Allahu Akbar and thank you to all the teachers at Masjid Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, and thank you Brother Brad. I will never forget your kindness and patient teaching and I hope to run into you again my good friend. -Mike

a year agoWent there for taraweeh for the first time in ramadan and was shocked at how dirty the carpets were. I got rashes on my hands because of the carpet. Other people also had the same experience as me. Also I was listening to the quran and the hufaz leading the taraweeh were making so many mistakes and no one was correcting them. I believe most of them should not have been leading as they were altering the meaning of the Quran. They should teach proper tajweed to the kids before making them a hafiz. At one point even a little kid started leading. A very disappointing masjid experience. Won't be returning here anytime soon. May allah guide us all. Ameen.

a year agoAstarfullah! I am very disappointed in this Masjid. I'm sure this is not how the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) wants us to behave. Here is what happened. They have a winter Quranic class that I will like my child to attend. I called their phone found on Google on many occasions and got a message that says, "the number you have dialed is not in service. " I went to their website hoping to find a number and there was none!!! I then decided to fill out their online application which asked for registration fee, monthly donations, and fees for the Quranic class ( which I'm sure they should not even be charging for) to charge people to learn about Islam and the Quran just doesn't sit well with me but was willing to pay anyways. I uploaded a voided check, did all the steps and couldn't submit which tells me their website has a problem too. I then decided I will just send them an email.... this was on 12/19/2022, let's just say, as of today 12/22/2022 nobody has responded to my email Allahu'Akbar! On the 12/20/2022 I figured I will just drive there since all the other options has failed. This was around Zuhr Salat. I went to the women section, the door was closed. I don't know why a Masjid won't open all sections for prayers. I went to the men side and the door was also closed but I saw a brother standing inside. I knocked and he turned around looking at me telling me to go around to the women's side like duh, if it was opened, I won't be on this side. I tried telling him the door was closed from a closed door he refused to open. Not long after, another brother popped up, he also was telling me to go around from a closed door. I told him it was closed and he told me he will go and open it. We went back around to the women's side. I explained why we were there and he told me he will tell the Imam to come and talk to me after prayers. We waited till after they finish praying and the brother came to us and asked if they Imam came to see us, I said 'NO' he proceeded to say he told him we were waiting for him. I guess he didn't see us important enough to come talk to us. He then gave us the application with expensive fees to just learn the Quran! I was so discouraged! I decided to contact the other Masjid called ICC in Tempe, my call was answered immediately and their Quranic class is free. Wow! Mind you these are Masjids I have prayed at and donated to before what a difference! Imagine I was someone looking to revert to Islam? The behavior of this Masjid would have discouraged and drove them away. Since Allah is the best of judge, I will let him judge this matter Insha'Allah.

4 years agoThis is a great place. Most diverse community of Muslims I've ever seen and I've prayed all over the US. This ummah is devoted to education and the children are learning at an advanced rate. Over 22 Hafiz. The sheikh is a truly wonderful man who I admire and respect.
