Masjid on the Van Wyck was opened on July 13th, 2013. Between 1998 and 2012 the premises was leased out for the purposes of a masjid subsequently the administration bought a property and moved out. There was a void for a place of worship in the same community. As a result based on the needs of the local community an ideal location for commuters along the VanWyck especially to JFK a decision was made to use the premises as a place of worship and Islamic Activities. This premises has been renovated and currently plans are in progress to merge the adjacent building formerly the Islamic Store into one Building to be called โThe Islamic Center of Van Wyckโ incorporating the masjid to becoming a part of a broader center.

a year agoAsalaamu alaikum. When I first attended this masjid, the sister's side was very clean, the sisters were kind, helpful and polite. They cleaned up after the salah and had drinks and water available. The bathrooms were clean and the masjid has a very pleasant, fragrant smell. The children were quiet even during playful periods and the sisters were quiet during the lecture so you could hear. They have a TV and speakers so that everyone call see and hear the khutbah. The Imam was available to talk with and answer questions. I highly recommend this masjid.
