Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids

My experience at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids was a complete nightmare. From the moment I arrived, the staff treated my son with disrespect and made assumptions about his condition without even bothering to properly assess him. The nurse accusing my son of being a drug addict was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. The lack of urgency in providing treatment was extremely concerning, especially considering my son's complex medical history. The way the nurse, Blake, spoke to my son was degrading and disrespectful. His dismissive attitude towards me as a parent trying to advocate for my child's well-being was unacceptable. Furthermore, the threat of calling security on me for simply trying to communicate with the medical staff was outrageous. The fact that they were more concerned with removing me from the hospital than actually providing proper care to my son speaks volumes about their priorities. Ultimately, I had to take matters into my own hands and transfer my son to another hospital where he was seen immediately. The contrast in care and treatment between Mercy hospital and the University of Iowa hospital was like night and day. I would never recommend Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids to anyone based on my experience. The lack of empathy, professionalism, and quality of care I witnessed during my visit was truly disappointing.

Don’t come here. They treat people as if they don’t really have the issues they claim. They will make you wait hour and hours for literally nothing all the while not checking on you one time. Treating a pregnant woman like she’s some drug seeker instead of what she is makes me sick to my stomach. I get having to wait but there was hardly anyone here and my fiancé had to beg for some ice chips is disgusting. The male doctor had no business treating pregnant woman. The next male doctor to treat a woman this way will definitely be getting formal complaints and any and all hell I can raise.

I moved to Cedar Rapids and had lab orders sent from my doctor in Ames for monthly blood work. This blood work is important so I can get my medication every month. I have been getting my blood drawn in Ames with no issues and I ended up getting it drawn by the worst phlebotomist at Mercy Cedar Rapids Lab. The phlebotomist that drew my blood was definitely a plebe and seemed to be clueless and fishing at what angle to draw my blood. It also hurt and it is now bruised. Now I am most likely going to make a 200 mile round trip to Mary Greeley in order to have my blood drawn by people who know what they are doing. I have had my blood drawn about 40-50 times on a continuing basis over the past three years and zero ended up in major pain or being stuck twice. I feel like that says a lot as well.

I had my right hip replaced at Mercy by Dr. Lange on July 1, 2024. Four of your nurses were outstanding in kindness, attentiveness, and nursing skills ! I could not have had better care ! In pre-surgery Megan and Brandy were awesome, and after surgery Sophie and Edith were simply outstanding ! I was blessed to have them take care of me !! ❤️❤️

I was in the cardiac unit for 3 days last December. The care was fine, but the food was HORRIBLE (how do you make mashed potatoes taste bad?) and the billing department is either incompetent, corrupt or both. Told me I had financial aid and then pulled a "bait and switch" and now I'm liable for bills they said were 100% paid. THEN told me "well you shouldn't have picked that insurance" like it was MY fault. NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I GO THERE. I'LL DIE FIRST.
