Our passion for amazing food began back in the 1980s. Whether it was incredible family meals or adventures to a little joint on 63rd street on Chicagoโ€™s South Side to find what we thought (and STILL think today) was the best falafel in the world.

We believed in great tasting food that was fresh, good for you and left you feeling like your meal fueled your mind, body and soul. Not like youโ€™d just eaten a bag of dry cement!

My father got us into the business of sharing a passion for food with others, opening Cedars in Hyde Park in the 1990s. Dad worked tirelessly (still does to this day) to create delicious Mediterranean food from the best ingredients .

“Every ingredient that goes into a Mezza meal is critical. That’s why we hand select everything from spices to vegetables, chicken to chickpeas. We just don’t believe in trusting our food (or our customer’s appetite and health) to someone else’s recipe.”

Not bad for a quick eat. Got the Pita wrap with Steak with hummus, mixed salad, feta, pickled onions, and garlic sauce- it was pretty filling. A few options to customize in general. No frills, solid wrap.

Really awful hummus. Like, really bad. I couldn't even finish it, and I almost never throw food away. Falafel was less bad than the hummus, but that's not saying much. If you're in the area and want good Mediterranean, do yourself a favor and head a couple blocks south to Taza, on Franklin St. I won't make this Mezza mistake again.

Pretty good Mediterranean food, I usually get the spicy chicken plate. Its another chipotle style add what you want in a bowl place. Flavorful and fresh food with decent portions and decent price. It can be a bit of sensory overload with all the tastes merging together and not really knowing what you're eating. But that's I think just the style of the food and also me putting everything possible in my bowl. Overall decent place, I come here every now and then if I don't bring lunch to work. But I'm not chomping at the bit to come.

The piza falls apart really easily. Tastes good and decent portions though.

My husband went here for lunch and he found a living cockroach in his bowl. Definitely a health concern and will be filing a complaint with the cook county health department.
