Nabilaโs is a Lebanese restaurant in Brooklynโs Cobble Hill neighborhood.
Itโs the culmination of a years-long dream to bring the home cooking of my mother, Nabila, to the neighborhood I call home today. Born in Beirut, Nabila learned to cook from her own mother and grandmother. She held those recipes close as she fled her country during the Lebanese Civil War, moving to Egypt, California and Saudi Arabia before settling in Washington DC. In her late 40s, armed with no experience cooking professionally, she took over a small storefront and turned it into a wonderfully successful Lebanese catering business.
My brothers and I were lucky to eat our motherโs cooking nightly, but the full show was reserved for her much-loved dinner parties. They were marvelous events that brought people together and celebrated the cultural strength & generosity of Nabilaโs cherished country.
My hope is to recreate the spirit of Nabilaโs dinner parties and share her beautiful cooking – the kind of food rarely found outside of Lebanese homes – with my Brooklyn community today.

2 months agoNabilaโs main dishes are not the kebabs and other grilled meats which for many Lebanese diners are synonymous with eating out. Instead they are drawn from the home-kitchen repertoire. Nor are they broken down into components that can be coaxed into some dramatic pattern โ interlocking lamb ribs in a neat triangle under squirted zigzags of sauce. Most of the food comes to the table looking the way it would if you had helped yourself from a platter with a serving spoon.

7 months agoFirst time at this place and, wow! What a great experience! I booked the place through Resy, super easy and my table was ready when I arrived at the restaurant. We were two people and shared a few plates. We started with a dip- the Baba Ghannouj, which gets 5 starts. We also ordered one of each small bites. All were delicious but I highly recommend the Beef Kibbeh. For the entree we had the Yakhnet Sabanegh (lamb and spinach stew) and the Rice Hashwi & Chicken - these were amazing! I personally liked the lamb better but the rice and chicken were out of the box! I have to admit that we ordered too much food and could not finish the rice and chicken. We were full and did not have dessert.

2 years agoWarm atmosphere with several sizing options to choose from (bite-size, small mezzes, entree). All of the items I tried were really flavorful (with all their components working together) and nicely spiced. The roast chicken main dish I selected was a quite healthy-size portion -- I couldn't quite finish it after eating all the small bites I had already ordered -- and was definitely worth the price.

a week agoThe food is extraordinary! So is the atmosphere, and the staff! The service was very fast! The only downside is the portion/price ratio - plates are really small! Prepare to take a larger order if you are hungry!
