Olives Market is a small local family owned business located in Macomb, MI. With variety of food that includes Grocery, Produce, Bakery, Meat, Deli, & Dairy.
Great place to pick up fruits and veggies and other Mediterranean and mideast food items. Their hummus and bread is wonderful.
Prices are very fair and as to the friendliness of the workers, I can't really say, as my wife is the one who usually stops in.
New to the area and looking for a fruit/vegetable market (not a fan of the grocery store chains for produce).
My first time in - January 5, 2024 - and found the fresh selections to be less than expected, maybe 1/3 of the store.
Lots of imported items from SE Europe & Middle East, many items I've never seen before but want to try plus numerous known items.
I saw no expired items and the produce was fresh and well-priced. The floor was a bit dirtier (maybe it's just the look of the tile?) than it probably should be but not enough to be an issue.
There are several coolers with items as well. Plus the fresh made bread, etc.
In all, I would think of this as more an eastern Mediterranean grocery than strictly a fruit market. Heck, the selection of teas & cookies is enough to bring me back, not to mention the bulk items and less well-known spices.
We just discovered this place two weeks ago, what a hidden gem! The fresh baked bread, You canโt leave without it! The owner, he is such a wonderful man and so welcoming. We love this place! Thank you to everyone that works there!
Upon reviewing my receipt, I realized I had been overcharged. When I approached the staff, their initial response was to pretend they didnโt understand the issue. It was only after persistent questioning that they acknowledged the mistake and refunded the difference.
Additionally, I recommend stay vigilant when shopping here. Not only should you check your receipts carefully, but also pay close attention to the expiration dates on products. I've noticed that some items have very faded dates, or the printing is smudged, which can be easily overlooked. Plus, receipts here lack any clear logo or business identification!
The food is good, especially the baked bread straight outta oven. The only problem is the hygiene. The store is not clean and neat. You guys have a lot of potential. Just make sure you invest more on the hygiene and organization of the store.
