Palmyra Mediterranean Cuisine is a restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA that offers a diverse menu of Mediterranean dishes. The establishment prides itself on providing a casual dining experience with a focus on authentic flavors and fresh ingredients.
Loved this spot. Absolutely delicious and some of the best Middle Eastern food in the Pittsburgh area. Worth a relatively long drive. Everything is so fresh and definitely homemade. I tried out their falafel wrap, chicken platter with yellow rice, and baklava.
The chicken platter was absolutely amazing. For just $13, the price is unbeatable and the portion is amazing. The chicken is juicy and flavorful. Not stringy like is many other spots. The vegetables they served on the side were crisp and fresh. The rice was soft, buttery, and surprisingly flavorful. I really enjoyed every part of this dish. And, the garlic sauce was the cherry on top: also so fresh, perfect level of creaminess, and the perfect accompaniment to the chicken.
The falafel wrap was nearly equally good. The falafel was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. Very flavorful. It even had some pickled vegetables along with it. The wrap itself was alright and a bit more sauce would have been nice, but it was still an excellent wrap due to the falafel being so good.
The baklava here is some of the best I’ve had in Pittsburgh. They included the perfect amount of syrup. A great portion. Not too sweet but still hits the spot. Definitely recommend.
All in all, this is one of my new favorite Middle Eastern spots in Pittsburgh. Very flavorful and fresh food that is clearly homemade. Literally everything I tried was delicious!
I visited Palmyra at South Hills Village today (8-21-24). I ordered the Mediterranean Salad, $10.99. The salad tasted like it was made yesterday. Wilted lettuce and watery. Basically, iceberg lettuce. Tomato, cucumber, with a little feta cheese. Also, Pita. They said the dressing was olive oil and lemon juice. The olive oil was basically non-existent. Very poor value!
After months of intending to try Palmyra Mediterranean Cuisine, I finally made it for a late lunch this afternoon. While I am a native Pittsburgher, I had resided in NYC for 15 years and experienced some damn good shawarma, and what I was served today is second to none. This is not a compressed mass of processed ground beef and lamb, but rather marinated, stacked, tender cuts of meat perfectly roasted on the spit. You may, if you're fortunate, find shawarma as good, but I am certain you won't find better. Also, the proprietors are genuinely good folks with a demonstrated - however, humble - pride in their in their food, and this is reflected from the first bite to the last. If South Hills Village is remotely convenient to you, make the trip. (Also pictured is the spicy hummus, baba ghanoush, and stuffed grape leaves.)
Can’t believe this hidden gem is in the mall! My brother told me for months to try it and I’ve been back several times. The service is top notch and the food is unbelievable. So much flavor packed into fresh ingredients. The garlic sauce is unmatched.
I can't say enough good things about this restaurant at South Hills Village. The service is phenomenal and friendly beyond compare. Having been going here for years, I've had plenty of conversations with the owners. They are so friendly and have also pointed out that they get all their vegetables from local farms and everything is so fresh! The food is phenomenal! My toddlers love it, too!
It is a gem to have a healthier fresh option amongst the other food court options, too!
Just an edit: ive seen a review or two that mention wilted lettuce. It is not wilted, but rather, they prepare the salad mixed in an oil vinegarette. I can see how one might mistake this for wilted, but that is not the case - the lettuce is indeed fresh!
