The Allergy and Asthma Program at Boston Children’s Hospital is part of the Division of Immunology. The program evaluates children with all types of allergy problems. We also conduct skin testing to determine your childโ€™s allergies. Allergies are the immune systemโ€™s reaction to certain foreign substances called allergens. Common allergens include dust mites, pollen, pet dander, insect stings, medications, and food. When your immune system reacts to these allergens by coughing, sneezing, or wheezing, it means youโ€™re allergic to it.

We are also experts in treatment of asthma, which is caused by allergies in approximately two-thirds of children with asthma. Pulmonary function testing, which measures lung function, is available for children 6 and older with respiratory issues. Our providers are experts in designing a treatment plan to allow children with asthma to participate in all activities and prevent exacerbations.

After waiting over 6 months to be seen, one doctor's visit (which included a few skin tests and some blood work) was $2500 out of pocket for me. And this is in-network for my insurance. This seems like robbery. Then, I was told an epipen was called into my pharmacy. The pharmacy never received it, and it is very difficult to get in touch with anyone to actually get the prescription sent.

They are great once you actually get an appointment. We had to wait over 12 months for my daughter to do her food challenge... Unacceptable! The phone lines are always really busy and it takes forever to get through to someone.

Cannot reach them by phone easily. Pressing Any of the prompts offered kicks the call back or hangs up on you. Additionally, their hours on the website listed say open at 7am but only after I called the main phone line at BC was I told that they are not open until 8am.
