History

Established in 1998.

In the early 90's, Kaissar and Salma Farah owned a small mom and pop store in central El Paso. Having spent 12 hours a day 7 days a week working the store, it was difficult for Salma to go home and prepare dinner every day. In order to keep her three over grown sons fed after school, Salma made Kaissar build her a kitchen in the back of the store. As she labored to make the food, friends and family would often sit and visit with Salma. One day, Salma's friend Salwa offered to buy fatayer to give out as gifts. Eventually, word got out and Salma's little oven was no longer enough. Realizing her potential, Kaissar built his beautiful hard working wife a commercial kitchen on the side of the store which eventually became known as "Salma's Kitchen".
