I used to come to Sammyโ€™s Halal Food all the time when I was younger and when they first opened. Back then, they had the best chicken over rice in the city, hands down. The flavor was unbeatable, and it was always a satisfying meal. Unfortunately, things have changed over the years. The taste is definitely still there, but the portion sizes have gotten smaller. There's less chicken and more rice, which is really disappointing. It used to be a generous serving that left you full and happy, but now it feels like you're paying more for less. Speaking of prices, the platter now nearly costs $10, which is crazy considering it used to be around $6 and came with a free soda. The free drink is no longer included, which adds to the feeling that you're not getting as much value for your money. The employees donโ€™t seem as friendly or helpful as they used to be either. They rush through your order and seem more focused on getting you out of the line as quickly as possible rather than providing good service. Additionally, trying to find parking in Jackson Heights is a nightmare, especially near this halal cart. Double parking is almost impossible and itโ€™s a hassle to even stop by for a quick bite. The quality of the food has definitely gone down and the experience isnโ€™t what it used to be. Itโ€™s disappointing to see one of my favorite spots change for the worse.

Gets worse everytime I have been going to sammys halal for over 5 years now, and the quality these days keeps degrading everytime i try since past few months and today it crossed the line. 1st : i said no salad twice and they still added salad 2nd: i asked to add pita and they put a quarter of a pita 3rd and where i felt was too much I was pretty sure I ordered chicken over rice, but got GINGER over rice This place used to be great, but seems to have lost its quality somewhere along the way

I have been patronizing this cart for over 6 years and just deleted my 5 star review to post this. They have new staff/workers lately, not sure if under new management but, they now suck. The quality of food and hospitality has diminished greatly! I witnessed them putting up a new price board signs two weeks ago. I have no problem paying with cash or card (with surcharge and all) on the new signage it says platters come with salad or pita. I ordered a chicken over rice platter without salad and with pita, the staffer tells me that is an extra charge, when the sign clearly says salad OR pita. When brought to their attention, I'm told that was an error and pita is an upcharge. A week later...the new signage with this "error" is still posted. The white sauce is now watered down/stretched out, portions are skimpy, and as I use my card, the totals have been changing every visit! Quantity over quality. There is no integrity or accountability here anymore, and I will refrain from coming here for quite some time. What a shame. - 0/1 โญ๏ธ's

I'm disappointed, this was my favorite place for so long and not only has the prices gone up a bunch and they've switched to smaller containers while giving less meat but also less rice! It's a shame because it still tastes good but I can no longer justify the price for product, I'll have to go look for another go to halal cart... For reference, the rice platters used to cost $8 each and now cost $9/10/11 for chicken/lamb/mixed

Looks like this place is going down. It's the worst halal food I have ever experienced. This used to be my go to place for chicken over rice but nowadays the quality has gone so bad you can't imagine. Looks like the people working there don't know how to cook. The best place right now in Jackson heights for halal food is bashir halal on 73 street and 37 Ave next to Duane reade ( blue cart). The food is excellent over there. So my advice is to avoid Sammy as it is not the same old good food quality you used to get better go to bashir halal cart.
