Shawarma Al-Sham

Shawarma was very well below average. They have inappropriate music on the screen and the atmosphere is not very friendly for couples. People stare a lot. And they force you to tip ~20% despite average service. And they only accept cash. Also the price is more expensive than the price stated on the menu!

I am so shocked to see the bad reviews!! First of all the Shawarma is actually very good. I never had a bad one and sometimes I ask them to put pickles in it and they do it for me. The guys at the counter are hard working nonstop. If the price is a little bit expensive for you, they do have one special which is the chicken Shawarma with the french fries and I think it’s $13 and you get a full plate with pickles, the Shawarma, white sauce, and french fries fries. It’s delicious. It’s cash only! So just bring cash with you. Yes it would help if they took card but you know what I really like the Shawarma so when I do feel like I want it I just go pull out some money from the ATM so I can pay for it. I took this video of all the yummy orders bring made and happen to catch one of the girls at the last bit; perfect timing- so cute. I’d like to sit here and eat one day just for the cool way they plate your food. lol. And I haven’t got to try the beef yet so that’s gotta be my next order!

I usually refrain from posting negative reviews because I work in the restaurant industry and understand the impact they can have. However, my experience at this place in Bay Ridge compelled me to write one. The food was average, nothing special compared to other local spots Arab spots! But what really stood out was the poor service. Initially, they mixed up our order. Then, it became apparent that they only accepted cash, which was not communicated upfront. The receipt suggested a higher price for card payments, included an added service charge, and they still expected a cash tip. Moreover, if you didn't have cash, you were directed to use an ATM within the restaurant. When I addressed these issues, the staff was confrontational and rude. I am considering reporting this to the food department and sincerely hope the owner takes notice and responds.

A restaurant that does not deprive its customers. There is no service. When I came to pay by card, the worker said the price is $28. She said she does not accept cards. I went to the ATM, returned the payment, and the price changed to $38.
