6 months agoThis place is disgusting on the inside. The food's good I actually looked around today and it is that dirty on the inside. I'm surprised the health department has not shut this place down it's gross. I paid for my shawarma and chucked it in the garbage after seeing the kitchen.

2 weeks agoI have been a fan for years.. I've tried from other places and always come back to Shish. Omar and others are great, always friendly and fast. Miss the old place( it was more friendly)I liked to watch the prep, but remodeling was necessary and looks great. Thank you for your service.

9 months agoThe main and most important point is that that food was excellent. The restaurant had a great turnover with lots of customers coming in and out. My wife and I ate onsite. There were enough chairs inside by the window to eat at the counter on a cold snow day. The service was very friendly. We were brought a spicy sauce extra that we had not asked for out of a genuine act of hospitality which was much appreciated, very delicious and added to our experience. The grape leaves came warm, served with house pickles on lettuce. The restaurant felt authentic, like a family run joint. The food was definitely homemade and fresh, in all the best ways. The falafel sandwiches were perfect, the hummus was super delicious and ideal consistency and temperature, and having fresh made to order juices on the menu was a big plus too. Highly recommend for Birmingham. Clearly labeled vegan and plant based options.

6 months agoFirst time customer. I was looking for a replacement for the original LaShish in Dearborn. Walking in, you could see they were very busy but the smell! OMG It made my mouth water just being in there. The food, whole deboned chicken, rice & soup, was so good. I got it plain but there was still a big lemon flavor, which I didn't mind. The garlic sauce and hummus was yummy! (Thank you Omar). I wish they had the homemade bread instead of pita, but it's a small place so they probably don't have room so can't knock them for that. The soup was very creamy, no lumps, which I've never had before, but it was still good. I'd recommend ordering ahead just for times' sake but the wait was worth it. I'll be back!

5 months agoTasty food! Average price points for Birmingham. The interior certainly needs a refresh (signage states theyโll start remodeling in July 2024) as everything is run down or sloppy. The Schwarmas are as good as anything youโd find in Dearborn. Its nice not having to trek far away. I guess you could eat inside but itโs not conducive. Tables and chairs are available outside, but itโs not really inviting. Looking forward to the remodel. I seriously considered a 3 star, however the food quality & taste is what keeps the rating higher.
