7 months agoWandered in here out of curiosity one day and I'm already looking forward to the next time I'll get to go back. Sultan Bey is about the size of a convenience store but holds a wide variety of imported products from, primarily, the Middle East. There are raw grains and beans, cans of prepared foods like stuffed grape leaves and roasted eggplant; lots of olives, many many spices; snacks and sweets. There's a lovely freezer section with phyllo (filo) based foods including a nice selection of baklava. There's even a section of small appliances as well as one of non-American soaps and hygiene products. The best part of Sultan Bey, though, is the sweets counter near the register. They have slices of elaborate tortes and many individually sized desserts - more than I could try in just my one visit. I tried a phyllo (filo) wrapped sweet that turned out to be similar to baklava, but instead of layers it was filled. It wasn't too sweet and had the perfect ratio of filling to phyllo (filo). The tortes were very different - one mostly cake with a lightly sweet cream cheese like filling and turtle (nut, caramel, chocolate) toppings. The other was baklava-esque on the top and side with mousse-like layers of chocolate and vanilla. The baklava mousse torte was my favourite, but both were very good and not overly sweet or too rich. I look forward to trying the other kinds they have! The gentleman at the counter was delightful and told me how he likes to enjoy his torte (with unsweetened green tea). Wandering into Sultan Bey was a fun experience and a great find. I will definitely be back!

a year agoGood selection of Turkish and Arab products, including spices and sweets. The store is clean, the staff are very friendly, and the cats are very hard working. Overall, a reliable place to shop for groceries from back home with affordable prices.

2 years agoAstounding customer service here. Recently had an error on my bill and it was rectified immediately; the young man working there went above and beyond to fix my issue. Truly people who will always treat their customers with respect while other shops in this area could care less (there's always more college students to fleece). The fresh baklava is also amazing.
