what rainy lazy night calls forโฆfood from The Halal Kitchen parked on 14th Street and University. hadnโt been here in a minuteโnot much has changed: ample servings, Middle Eastern styled comfort food, and well-seasoned eats. ordered a chicken over riceโnot a long wait bc it was super rainy last night. the platter of seasoned chicken and rice was really filling from the chunks of chicken and fragrant rice topped with white sauce and a dab of hot sauce. service is quick and friendly. prices have risen steadily bc of inflation, price gouging, fill-in-the-reason etc. as Marlo Stanfield of The Wire once said: โthe price of the brick going upโ and that it hasโฆthat it has. p.s. donโt sleep on the gyroโquality sando.
Ordered the chicken gyro and was pretty delicious. Only wish they would remove the fibers from the chicken before it were cooked to it wouldn't distract from the texture and experience. Other than that, it was well seasoned and the proportions were generous. Way better than The Halal Guys over on 14th and 2nd.
This cart used to be my favorite, but the new guy who runs it is super rude. When I gave him my order he completely ignored my requests and just put on hot sauce, onions, and carrots. Super disappointing, wouldnโt recommend.
This is ridiculous! They charge me $10.25 for a chicken over rice with tax, and when I ask them about why, the guy said he raised the price 2 months ago, but I bought the same thing in the same place not even a month ago twice, and the price was $8 !! If you want to get food here, Good Luck!
