About Us
ICBR was founded in 2015 by a group of dedicated Muslims for the specific purpose of practicing, preserving Islam, and Islamic heritage, and to serve the needs of the Muslim families in Big Rapids and its vicinity.
Mission
The Islamic Center of Big Rapids will dedicate its resources to serve the religious needs of the Muslim Community in Big Rapids, MI and its vicinity by providing a place of worship and educational services to its members and to serve as a resource for those interested in learning about Islam and Muslims.
Goals
The aim and purposes of the Center is to serve the best interest of Islam and Muslims in the Big Rapids area and its vicinity. The Center shall:
- Promote unity among Muslims
- Arrange and hold prayers and Islamic religious festivals at appropriate times
- Conduct social, cultural, religious, educational, and other activities conforming with the traditions of Islam
- Avoid any and all wrong practices, which are not consistent with the teachings of Islam
- Promote friendly relations between Muslims and non-Muslims
- Endeavor to make Islamic teachings known to interested non-Muslims

2 years agoThe mosque has been open since Ramadan this spring and has a small but loyal congregation. There is no permanent Imam, so different members of the mosque are asked to prepare a khutba each Friday and lead the prayers. The members are mostly students and faculty from nearby Ferris University and the Islamic community in the near by cities. They were very welcoming to my husband and are always happy to see travelers stop in on Friday. The mosque is not open at other times, and is kept locked for security reasons, but the head of the members can be reached by phone if needed. And the mosque does celebrate all major Eids and is open nightly for prayers during Ramadan. My Husband is very happy to be part of this small community.
