The Lighthouse Mosque was founded in 2007 by Imam Zaid Shakir. The community of the Lighthouse is diverse and tries to adhere to the teaching of Allah's final Messenger PBUH. Currently the Lighthouse is run by a Majlis Shura consisting of 5 brothers and 3 sisters. It is located in North Oakland and has a rotating group of teachers and speakers that teach classes and delivered khutbah. May Allah continue to bless the Lighthouse community with informative classes, lectures and a healthy spirit of teamwork and brotherhood. May Allah bless all the Muslims with good in this world and good in the next and may He save us from the fire.

11 months agoAmazing African American Brother, Amazing Masjid, Amazing Shaykh El Bakri. I wish this Masjid can expand more. It was full MashaAllah. You can find free food and cheap books outside. Shaykh said to do three things daily, 1. Read couple verses of Quran with Tafseer 2. Do Zikr it doesn't require much efforts. 3. Pray Tahajud Qiam at Night before Fajr. JAZAKALLAH

6 months agoIf I say that I love this place, it means I said nothing. This place is my second home. This mosque is pretty diverse and has a unique vibe that you might not find anywhere else. All brothers are super welcome, and our lovely Imam Sundiata drives this community. Alhamdulillah for this blessing. We have multiple events, like free Arabic/Qur'an classes, BBQ, American flag football and poetry nights. Come to Jumah (1:30 pm summer/winter), chat with brothers, come to events.

11 months agoWe come here very often but they are usually closed. When my family went to Jumah earlier today after Jumah my husband asked if the masjid would be open for daily salat and he was directed to the side room to talk to a brother. While asking questions another brother grabbed my husband by the shirt and instigated a fight. My husband did not strike or punch yet many other Muslims said my husband had a attitude and came with a problem. My husband was awestruck and dumbfounded by the behavior of the Muslims at this masjid! When the brother instigated the fight with my husband all the other brothers said my husband was rude and still until right now my husband nor our family nor me understand what the problem is nor did we get a answer if this masjid will be open for Salah. My husband doesn't even know why he is being bullied just for asking a question? If anybody is reading this from the masjid why haven't we gotten any answers about why we were treated so disrespectful?
