5 months agoI visited Dr. Ahmed Soboh's dental office due to a severe bout of TMJ painโ which the office apparently specialized in. Having seem my husbands temporary crown from this office fall of three times, I was skeptical of coming here but thought that must have been a fluke. I arrived at 2 PM sharp, completed the necessary paperwork, but by 2:35 PM, I was still awaiting my consultation. Concerned about the time, as I needed to pick up my children from IOK school by 3:20 PM, I inquired how long the wait would be to the dental assistant. She assured me she would check and left, presumably to speak with Dr. Soboh. When Dr. Soboh arrived, his frustration was palpable. Barely allowing me a word, he repeatedly cut me off with a sarcastic, โYouโre in a rush, right? Over and over again.โ Despite my attempts to explain the urgency was due to pain and not impatience, he briskly examined me, declared my jaw misaligned, and stated I needed a root canal and that my jaw was mislignedโall within 30 seconds, without any diagnostic x-rays or a thorough explanation. As I tried to gather more information about the treatment, he dismissively said, โIโll answer questions only once you decide to get treatment,โ and ushered me off the chair to another room to discuss the financial details with his staff. Trying to communicate my situation again, I stressed that i had asked about the wait not from impatience but a necessity to manage my childrenโs school pickup. Unmoved, he chastised me saying โNo you were rude! Donโt do that again. How long? It's a minimum of two hours every time you come, and itโs not my fault if you donโt plan for your kids.โ As his tone intensified, I began to cry, asking, "I am in pain and I have little kids, why are you being so mean?" His response was even more chilling: โStop crying right now! Stop making a scene in my office,โ he commanded, as he shut the door to shield this exchange from other patients. โYou need a psychologist. I am not a psychologist. If you want help for your tooth, maybe we can help, but you need to stop crying right now or get out!โ In front of his quietly observing staff, I felt utterly demeaned and abused. As I sat contemplating other dental options, his assistant presented a $3000 treatment plan for some type of device. When I inquired what it was for, she seemed surprised by my lack of awareness. โHe didnโt explain it to you? I can call him in?โ she asked. No he didnโt. I knew then that further humiliation was not an option for me. I declined and left, unable to look at Dr. Soboh as he attempted to speak with me on my way out. This encounter was profoundly disturbing, easily the worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional and a deeply painful personal ordeal. I see that Dr. Sobohโs acts occassionally as a speaker at the mosque and is on the Islamic Shura council, however I saw no trace of the compassion or integrity expected of someone in his position, but quite the opposite. Itโs profoundly disheartening to see such cruel individuals in religious or caregiving roles. Thankfully, I found another dentist who treated me with the kindness and respect I desperately needed at that moment. Nonetheless, the memory of Dr. Soboh's cruel treatment lingers as a stark reminder of the disparity in human empathy. Money and power come and go but people never forget how you treat them and make them feel, especially during a time of need. Shame on this doctor and this office for perpetuating such a gross lack of care.

9 months agoThis has to be the most unprofessional office I have ever once considered one of the best, the Dr Soboh actually turned my daughter away as she had travelled a distance to be in his office care for a root canal, my daughter is a PPO insured and while it was an miscommunication from his office he personally informed me that his office did not have time to go back n forth of ins & proudly turned her away in her most fragile time of her visit. Unethical and rude.

a year agoI've been treated at this office for less than a year but have felt comfortable every single time. The staff is very attentive and teach you about every single process. From the front of the staff to the very end, it's nothing but smiles from everyone. You can tell that each person is very happy to be there and ready to provide the best treatment while keeping you informed. I hope this to be the beginning of a lasting relationship between staff and patient.
