At the heart of every meal is warm sangak, a sesame-encrusted flatbread fresh out of the restaurant’s huge oven. Asal is also riding the new culinary wave that unites disappearing kitchen crafts with au courant tastes.
A friend brought me here on our way home from Los Angeles. What a treat! This place was an absolute hit! The service was amazing, the food was amazing! I highly recommend this hidden gem. I got the chicken Kebab plate.
The food is amazing! I appreciated that they do not make their stews too oily. The Akbar Joojeh tasted great, but I wish the rice was less oily.
The owner is very friendly and attentive.
One thing they can improve is their space. The tables are too close to one another and can get crammed. Other than that I loved everything.
Awesome place! Love the hot sangak!!! The koobideh is cooked perfectly! A++ for the cooks!!! And Ata is super friendly and super fast!! Keep up the great work, you guys!! I will be back for sure and I will be telling all my friends! Thank you!!
We tried the Deezi and the Kalepache and the food was tasty with decent portions. The service was not good though and the servers had an unfriendly and disrespectful attitude from the very first moment. If you don’t care much about service and just want a tasty kalepache, this is the place. Otherwise, not recommended!
A friend of ours from LA recommended this spot. I was picking up some items as a gift for someone I was visiting in Santa Barbara. This was such a friendly and comfortable space to visit. Almost everybody walking in was speaking in Farsi to the owners. The owners were so friendly and took their time to speak to everybody and smiled and joked. It was such a well run familybased business. Great to see small businesses run by families doing well and connecting with the community.
