6 months agoWow - echoing what a few other reviewers have said: I've been meaning to come here for FOREVER & finally made it! A friend is a loyal Baiz customer & brought me for my first visit. So much good stuff that's unbelievably, affordably priced! What I love: *Produce prices - .69 cents for a bunch of mint; Yes please *Buy by the pound: kalamata olives, three kinds of feta (Bulgarian, Danish, Greek), labneh (creamy Greek yogurt) *Butcher dept w/ anything & everything including those lamb tongues (in photo) - not something I'd eat but each to their own *Pastry dept - they must have about THIRTY different kinds of pastries from pistachio & nutella baklava to traditional ma'amoul cookies *Spice aisle w/ an enormous range of spices from the familiar, cinnamon, to the more exotic (for me), za'atar *All the flavored waters, like rose water and orange blossom water, w/ many brands to choose from * Restaurant/cafe w/ seating area - lunched on a chicken shwarma sandwich & friend lunched on a beef shwarma sandwich; sandwiches are served on thin bread like lahvosh vs. a pita bread For $21 smackeroos, I got the following groceries: - Feta cheese/1/2 pound - Bottle of rose water - Mint bunch - Three Persian cukes - 1& 1/2 lb of sweet potatoes - Pumpkin seeds/8 oz - Walnuts/1 pound - Cream-topped yogurt/32 oz This same grocery list would be twice the price at Fry's so yes, I'm a new fan of Baiz! Thank you for offering so much to our community.

6 years agoIf you want authentic middle eastern food, come here! They have a restaurant inside, a deli with a variety of meats, and they even have a bakery! The food is also amazing, a variety of different foods to select from. The only find I have for the place is that the fruits aren't always as fresh as you would like then to be; The vegetables are though. And that the restaurant is a bit pricey, but the food is worth it. It's delicious.

7 years agoChicken and all the regular stuff is popular here, but I made the trip for some lamb. And next time for some goat (I've bought goat at the farmer's markets but you don't see it at most grocery stores). Before I go next time I'm making a list of wants, because even though it's small, the unusual choices are overwhelming. I lingered over all the desserts and cheeses and spices and meats. But I left with just one jar of roasted eggplant because I couldn't decide! Also stopped in the restaurant and had lamb kebabs (very soft - softer than filet often is!) and tabbouleh.
