in the last weekSurgical center and 3rd floor staff/care, all good! Thank you for taking good care of me while I was there for surgery and recovery. Your professionalism, compassion and care was appreciated and we are grateful. The only thing was that my husband wasnโt able to see me in recovery. He had to wait 3 hours until I was brought to my room after already waiting 3.5 hours while I was in surgery. I had to ask to see him before surgery and a kind nurse let him come in, but thatโs not protocol. Hmmmmโฆ.. When my surgeon scheduled my surgery at this hospital we read the reviews and were mortified! However, most of them were about the ER staff/care, so we were expecting the worse and hoping for the best. And we were pleasantly surprised and grateful! Again, the surgical center and 3rd floor staff/care, kudos and thank you again! We would NEVER go to this ER, however, based on reviews.

a week agoThis hospital is for profit. That is most clear. Overall, they care more about profit than healthcare of their patients. The doctors shine for their absence in treating patients. This is a real concern because they are the ones who direct your treatment. They seem to spend more time filling their charge fees than treating patients. The staff was very good, although most 2/3s had not worked there more than a year, which is puzzling. Staff turnover must be high, Why? I guess it could be due to bad leadership and doctor treatment. Bottom line based on my experience at this hospital is, donโt go there! I wonโt go back!

2 months agoOn the positive side, I had a great Stay post delivery. Emily was the best nurse I could ask for. She is like the fairy grandmother of nurses for babies, I wish I could've brought her home with me. I feel like she went above and beyond her job title and treated me like I was one of her babies. All of the nurses were great, but Emily really stuck out. We had the celebration meal & I rarely had to ask for anything because they kept up with everything. Very very happy with how I was treated after I had my baby. On the down side when I first arrived one of the nurses assistant in triage was rude to me. She was just acting like she didn't want to be there or deal with me. Second, somebody threw my spouses food away without telling him. I never ate anything so I was confused as to why that happened especially after the nurse telling him he could go get something and where to find it. Lastly while I was in recovery one of the people who record your vitals notated they took my vitals when they really didn't. I was awake and aware and actually waiting for them to come check bc I was concerned about my blood pressure.

a week agoNeeded a major hospital immediately and they were the first to take me in, had to be transported over an hour away. Spent 4 days in the ICU. Bryce, Petra and Ross were all total rockstars during my stay. Bryce was the best nurse I've ever had. The ICU was extremely cold but comfortable. Went upstairs after two procedures that went well. Rooms upstairs are shared, and I got stuck with a bad neighbor. Not the hospitals fault. Gia helped me out in my hour of need, she's great. Could use better resources upstairs, beds are not great either. But between the two floors, the experience was great.

a week agoAs a provider myself I felt the need to write an accurate review of my personal experience as a patient at Arrowhead Abrazo Hospital. The ER portion was absolutely horrendous. Saturday at 245 am. I'm the only person in the lobby, was the only one being triaged and there was one other patient actually being treated in the ER. Front desk was good, the triage was good, and the ER physician was inexperienced. She told me I had a virus and migraine after her eval and wanted to send me home. I advised her I was a PA and told her my thoughts and why it's important I have labs and cultures drawn. She didn't like that and said she needed clearance from her supervising physician. The SP came in, did his eval and instantly ordered labs, cultures, lumbar puncture, CT of head, and started IV antibiotics. Next, everyone is training and brand new. I understand we all need to learn, but I was a person's first IV, had a nurse who received her license 3 months ago (and was training a student), then the lumbar puncture was an even newer resident under my original ER physician. She had never done one, not sure she had seen one because she didn't know basics, even position of the bevel or how to inform me of risks of the procedure. I was so uneasy about this I contemplated being treated elsewhere. During it there were hiccups, extra csf was leaked. No one bandaged it, I sat in bed upright and developed a severe headache where I was dry heaving and sweating from pain. Used my call light without response, so I started yelling for help. A Dr came in and helped me lay the bed flat as I knew this was a post LP complication headache. This lasted for days and I couldn't sit up or walk due to the intensity of the pain when elevated. I would have been treated with IV antibiotics and discharged if it werenโt for this complication. Due to the post-puncture headache from the LP, I had to be an inpatient for 5 days. Once admitted onto the floor, the experience drastically improved. Staff knew what they were doing, yes still training, but that's expected. Thankful I knew enough from my medical background to argue with the original physician to even get a workup in the ER. She would've sent me home and I would have continued to worsen and become septic without IV antibiotics and possibly be critically ill or even die. Overall, awful ER where I'd never go back to as I don't believe they have competent physicians. Maybe this was only because it was an overnight shift at 3am on a weekend, but I'd never risk it again. In my opinion, the hospital needs more trained and experienced physicians and limits how many staff are training at a time. Yet, the actual inpatient portion of the hospital was great with knowledgeable physicians and staff.
