Dr. Shahin has been dedicated to medicine for more than 25 years. After graduating from UCLA with honors and a degree in Biology, he attended USC Medical School, graduating in 1983. He went on to do surgical training at UCLA/Harbor General, and he is Board Certified in Occupational and Preventive Medicine. Though he is devoted to ExpressCare, medicine is just one of Dr. Shahinโs many passions.
An accomplished pilot, Dr. Shahin has served as an FAA Senior Aviation Medical Examiner and a captain in the Civil Air Patrol. He is the Flight Surgeon and Chief Medical Officer of AVMAS, a volunteer group that transports disabled veterans. โI began flying in 1986 to avoid jammed freeways while commuting to work at a medical clinic in El Monte,โ recalls Dr. Shahin, a Los Angeles native. โAfter landing, Iโd use a folding bike to go the final mile to the clinic.โ
Licensed as an Instrument Flight and Ground Instructor, Dr. Shahin also has commercial and multiengine ratings. When heโs not in the air or at the office, Dr. Shahin can usually be found on a running trail or a bike ride. He has completed 38 marathons and TK Ironman triathlons and often trains with his wife, Paulina Shahin, who is the manager of ExpressCare.
Dr. Shahin is the coauthor of 50 Running Trails in Southern California and is an award-winning photographer who owns Air Perspectives, an aerial-photography business. Dr. Shahinโs medical training and experience as an endurance athlete led him to him develop Sportslick, a popular waterproof skin lubricant that helps runners prevent blisters.

10 months agoEfficient processing of FAA medical certificate renewal. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I personally do not agree with their Covid vaccine policy, where they want to see your Covid vaccine card. In my opinion, a medical professional should not discriminate against people who are not vaccinated. What difference does it make? Whether one is vaccinated or not. Are you gonna ask for flu vaccine next? What happened to our freedom in this country?

a year agoIf I could leave a 0 star I would. The only positive is the reception staff and nurses. Doctor Samir Shahin was unprofessional, rude, and insulting. He belittled me for my age and insulted my health. I felt personally assaulted and walked out of his office in tears for how he made me feel with his sarcastic and rude comments. After we had finished and I was getting blood work done he popped his head in to make one last sarcastic comment and said "well your chest Xray looks good to me so how about you just keep on smoking." He will make you take tons of tests to drive up the cost of the visit and will try and sell you his "Diet vitamins" This experience was so bad for me I have filed an official complaint with the Medical Board of California and will be fallowing up. This man should have his medical license revoked.

2 years agoI was seen by Dr Shahin for a FAA first class physical. My appointment was for 1030 am and I needed an EKG. I was out by 1115 am with my certificate in hand. Very impressed by the professionalism and efficiency of the staff. Would definitely recommend Dr Shahin if you need an FAA physical.

3 years agoWow, this place is absolutely incredible. Beautiful office, welcoming nurses and receptionists, clean, very professional, and Dr. Samir Shahin is very nice and kind. Highly recommend him for any FAA medical exams. He really takes his time with each patient and cares about your future and dreams. I'd give this place more stars if I could. Ignore those negative reviews they were from along time ago and go book a medical at this place.

2 years agoRude and Overbearing Doctor. The people who work here are nice and respectful. Not as efficient as you'd hope. My pharmacy made multiple requests for a refill and didn't hear back. Excuses were made, callbacks happened 50% of the time. Nice people but you have to stay on top of communication. This is a 1 star review if they weren't at least nice. The bigger issue rests with the doctor, who has photos of himself with famous people in his hallways. Never seen that before, but it fits. Other negative reviews for this doctor used phrases like, 'Aloof and pompous' and 'made fun of me.' I'm surprised at the last one but I kind of believe it after my experience. I left annoyed at receiving his pushy views that had nothing to do with the purpose of my visit. He was more focused on talking to me about his agenda than he was about my need for healthcare. So I'll add 'rude and overbearing.' I went in for bloodwork and the doctor took full advantage and ran other tests beyond the scope of my visit. Guess I have that good insurance. Pay more attention to these negative reviews, I don't give many negative ones. This one is earned. The doctor earned it.
