a month agoI have been going to this hospital steadily for about 4 years now and I can count one on one had the bad experiences Iโve hadโฆwhich is two to three. They have a wonderful, caring staff and always do their best to make me feel better and more comfortable. It has a beautiful view of the city and the bay that you can enjoy as well. Iโm normally admitted when I come here and I live 45 minutes to an hour away. There is no other hospital that I go to. Thanks for always doing your best to accommodate me

4 months agoGod bless the wonderful, caring people that work here. Cannot think of the glowing words to praise the incredible medical staff at Long Hospital. The hospital itself and long term/palliative care center are unrivaled. Medicine practiced the way it was intended- โDo No Harmโ โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

5 months agoWent for surgery. High anxiety since I work in the medical field. Doctor Jeanette Lager was amazing and patient with me. Facilities modern, and clean. Not one bad encounter with any of the staff or nursing. Amazing. The updated my family well during surgery. Incisions look great- optimal results!! Far exceeded my expectations.

3 months agoNobody wants to see their loved ones end up in a hospital, let alone have it happen for days without knowing when they'd be able to return home. Despite the traumatic nature of my grandmothers situation, the medical team at UCSC really helped to provide the best care they could during this difficult time. The ER experience wasn't the greatest with it being full and it taking a very long time (almost two days) for her to finally get a room, but the staff did their best and I could see they put in the level of care considering the circumstances. Once we got her into cardiology, the medical experience seemed much smoother. Her cardiology team was fantastic in providing care and support, and walking through some difficult decision making with our family as we rotated in and out of the hospital. As someone that lives with CAD, I was able to relate to their suggestions they had for my grandmother and their descriptions, risks assessment, etc were top notch and aligned with how I'd want to be cared for when faced with similar situations. Along with the cardiology care team, all of the nurses, sitters, specialized practitioners and staff were empathetic and caring in providing support to her and to each of us. I appreciated the interpretation services being available for family members who don't have a strong grasp of English (especially medical jargon) and the facilities were kept clean and comfortable. Thank you Dr. Rao and the team for doing your best to providing comfort and care for all of us. Major cons: $5 parking per hour is a bit unfortunate especially if it's an emergency, but it is SF I guess. This medical center is accessible via N MUNI line and the 6 bus.

2 months agoThis might be the worst hospital in operation. I arrived unable to walk or stand due to the pain from suspected herniated discs in my back. I waited 3 hours to be seen. I requested imaging, and was instead offered pain meds. I requested a referral to a neurosurgeon and the doctors argued with me that I should go to an ortho. I am requesting a neuro. Honor the request. It required them speaking with my previous surgeon to honor the request and I still could not get imaging done because it was not an โemergency.โ I am a 29-year-old former professional athlete and I cannot walk. It is an emergency. After being given pain meds I was told โWeโll be back to check on you in 30 minutes.โ 2 hours later I had not been seen. I hobbled to the bathroom in great pain with multiple pauses to hold myself up on the railing. When I came back, the doctors offered me PT. I said, โI can barely move. I want imaging and surgery.โ The doctor condescendingly said, โI just saw you walk to the bathroom.โ GFY. While being discharged, I asked โWhat is the fastest way I can get imaging.โ The NP/PA told me โGo to the ER.โ I said, โAm I not in the ER?โ He said, โWell, itโs up to the provider.โ And I said โAre you not the provider?โ He said it was up to the discretion of the doctor and they try not to do imaging at the ER because it takes long and I might be waiting hours (I had already waited 6 hours at the hospital). What. A. Joke. 6 hours after my initial arrival, I called the referral number, spoke with an extremely unpleasant operator that told me to call back in the morning. I requested to leave a message and she told me โI am a hospital operator. I donโt take messages.โ Then why do you answer phones? I feel as though this hospital goes out of their way to not help patients. The bedside manner is extremely poor. I would not go back to this hospital if I was actually dying. They should be embarrassed and ashamed at the level of care provided to people in pain. I am considering all legal options.
