7 months agoI'm disappointed in this Dr. My mom went into surgey with a fractured hip. I was told by Dr. Hashmi that if she didnt have the surgey she would not walk again. Also given a "surgical risk calculator" that explained what possible outcomes could happen with the surgery (all showed below average). Sure enough she developed "Post Operative Delirium" wich I new nothing about, but yes it was a risk factor. I've been reading up on "Delirium". Yes its serious, and when detected can be cured with the right care. With her illness and the bad condition she was in they still released her into a rehab. So here me out on this. After her Delirium set in the doctor told me the best treatment was "Tender Loving Care" are you kidding me. I stayed with my mom on a sofa in recovery room every night. She was moved from different wards in the hospital which did not watch her symptoms progress. She should have been kept in a quiet environment and not moved(very important with delirium patients). When I visited her I had to ask a nurse to give her a bed pan so she could go to the bathroom. Which BTW she developed a UTI infection soon after as well as dehydration in the rehab. One time I came to visit and her oxygen was away from her nose and she was breathing heavy. Where are the nurses! I saw the agitation, confusion, not eating or drinking and not taking her blood pressure medication. I was told days after surgery she lost alot of blood. So i'm wondering who was responsible for her death? and why this wasn't acted upon in a reasonable manner. Obviouly she was mis treated and pushed into a rehab before she could recover. I spent the last days in hospice care on a sofa just like in recovery. I'm disgusted with the way the patient care at Salem Hospital treated her post surgery. Not one doctor had explained to me clearly what was going on. This was my Mom that i'm talking about and now she's gone.
