The International Language Institute (ILI) is the perfect school to study and learn English in Washington, DC, the capital of the USA. We have twelve levels of English classes and TOEFL, GRE and GMAT preparation courses. We also have group classes in twelve foreign languages: Arabic, Chinese, Mandarin, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Each class has a maximum of nine students and we only hire native speaking, experienced instructors. Students can also learn any other language in a private tutorial class. If you are interested in becoming an English teacher you can register for our TESOL (TEFL) certificate course. All of our programs are accredited by ACCET. We are located right in the heart of the city, in the vibrant Dupont Circle area and right across from the Metro.

a month agoHaving studied Arabic and Persian in college, I've been taking classes regularly at ILI for language review and to increase my speaking ability. I'm more than pleased with the instruction. True, we cannot cover the same amount of material in 10 weeks, but the attention given to the material is professional. The prices are excellent for the amount of time and instruction put into each class. Emphasis is given to speaking, reading, listening, and writing, although development of one's handwriting isn't part of the classes I've taken (Basic 3-Intermediate 3). That can be done online and should be. The classes are hybrid. I attend by zoom. There is homework, which must (to my mind, be done). I spend around 4-6 hours a lesson in homework to prepare for a 2 hr 15- 2 hr 30 minute class. It would be entirely possible to take two classes together, which I am currently doing in Arabic and Persian. My experience has been this: students get equal time in all categories; the instructors are KIND. We come into class at many different levels. Our instructors work well with the differences, keeping everything moving IN THE Language and show kindness to all of us. The instructors are professional and know how to teach hybrid, and they know how to teach grammar. I wanted: a structured setting to work on my languages. I love ILI and am grateful to have found it.

5 months agoI took 1 cycle of F1 and 2 cycles of F2b class. Both classes were good and most teachers in ili were so nice and helpful. Also I could make foreign friends there :)

3 months agoI didn’t have a good experience. I wanted a virtual class but the set up mixing virtual and in person is very unfair to virtual students. It’s difficult to follow, and the set up isn’t good. Additionally the methodology they use is not good and doesn’t help you speak. They cram exhaustive grammar rules and theory that overwhelms you and will not help you speak. I went there to learn my 6th foreign language (3 i learned to fluency) so i am not a novice in learning languages, but i am sorely disappointed. Tried to drop the class but they refused to give me any refund or even let me use the money i spent towards a private class. I really do not recommend this school especially if you want virtual classes.

4 months agoI studied in that school. I can just say it was wonderful experience. To me ILI isn't only about learning english or other languages being taught in there, but it is also a great story of meeting new people, different cultures. ILI it is a multicultural world in which 5 continents are gathered, young and old people. I had been there eight month long. I learned a lot things, english and life. Teachers are very kinds. I wish you Merry Crismas and Succes to Mister Frederick
