Khamsa

The atmosphere was great and we were very excited for a Moroccan dinner. The food did look good and matched the photos we'd seen when choosing to come to Khamsa. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but in this case I was very disappointed because it was a carefully picked dinner for a special reason. The service was painfully slow, which I'm willing to understand when an establishment is crowded. When we were sat there was nobody else in the entire restaurant; a second table was sat half way through out meal before we left. The drinks arrived somewhere before the main course, but after working through a disappointing appetizer, the proteins were cold and chewy, and all other elements were bland. I asked for a box and the check. I gave the majority of our $123 (pre-tip, and yes, I still tipped) meal to an unhoused individual, and we left to find something that would be made to taste good, not just for looks. The great ambiance was sullied by disappointing food, poor service, and prices that made me wish I'd have splurged on 10 Chuck E Cheese pizzas, because at least I'd have a happy story to tell and gotten my money's worth. Again, sorry for the negative review, but Khamsa is not a place I can recommend. Pictures shared because the presentation is very nice.

Given mixed reviews I was excited to discover how Khamsa does one of my favorite cuisines. Things started off on a basic note with their Mediterranean salad, but I was wowed by their bastilla, which wonderfully balances sweet and savory, crispy and soft. A must! Tajines were a mix: the lamb shank tajine was quite poor, as it lacked salt and had not absorbed any of the wonderful flavors surrounding it, almost like it has been garnished with fruits instead of cooked with them. The chicken, on the other hand, did have great flavor and we strongly preferred that dish. Although I was disappointed with the lamb, I would return again. One thing to be aware of: the receipts calculate suggested tip on top of tax.

My husband and I enjoyed visiting this wonderful restaurant in which the food tasted very much like back home. The service was excellent, the host was extremely nice and friendly, the atmosphere was very calm and clean. I would definitely come back.

Just out boppin around with my pal Jjeenko Khan Kamar in the city because he wants to stop at the Khamsa Restaurant and have an authentic lamb dish from Mogadishu. I tried for an hour to talk him into having pizza but he said we always have what you want and tonight we have baby lamb of Mogadishu at the Khamsa Restaurant. Well, it took a while for it to sink in because the dish has fresh lambs blood in it along with all the organ meats cooked under the animal's hide. But, I'll tell you...it was pretty good, as a matter of fact for those that like Haggis you'll love this. Khamsa Restaurant ☆☆☆☆☆

The food was interesting. Got the stuffed calamari, some veggie dish that was basically only sauteed carrots, bastilla, lamb stew which was the best. For the price tag and the food… well, I don’t feel like returning. Lamb was great and so was bastilla but I could eat more and better elsewhere and for cheaper.
