Masjid Ibrahim was founded in 2001 in southwest Austin, an area where no masjid existed previously. Since its inception, the number of worshippers continues to grow, especially at Jumuaโ€™ah and Isha prayers. This is in part due to the proximity of several large employers like Intel, Free-scale Semiconductor and AMD.Currently, it is the only center where all the Muslims gather in the South of Austin. We are a Federal non-profit 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization (Tax ID: 74-2967063).

So all the bad reviews are correct. Masjid is closed throughout the day. No answers on chat or phone call. InshAllah they can have a code system or have a caretaker to fix this issue. Please call ahead to find out if the masjid is open or even had a code to enter. Have fun backing out on a busy road to drive out with the closed gate .

We just had a massive meeting with the board to provide our feedback on future masjid projects, so apparently, the board works hard to include everyone in their decision-making process. Also, the masjid door opens every day before each daily prayer. If not, you type the gate code, and it opens.

Many community members have expressed concerns about the management of this Masjid, noting that it seems to be run like a personal enterprise by one individual. This person appears to make all decisions unilaterally, without involving others or seeking broader input. Although there is supposed to be a board governing the Masjid, this board has remained unchanged for nearly 20 years and is largely inactive. The lack of elections or opportunities for involvement has left many feeling excluded. It saddens me to write a negative review about the House of Allah, but my critique is aimed at those who currently control the Masjid. As a college student conducting research on places of worship, I was disappointed that this was the only Masjid that did not respond to my repeated requests for a copy of its constitution or bylaws. I sought this information to understand if elections should be held, as no one in the Masjid seems to have clarity on this matter. Other brothers have mentioned that they are considering actions against the current board due to concerns over the lack of activities, transparency in handling donations, and the absence of a full-time school. Moreover, the Masjid remains closed most of the time, further limiting community engagement. UPDATE: I want to clarify a few points in response to the recent reviews posted after mine. Instead of addressing the issues I raised, it seems that individuals related to the current board asked their family members to write positive reviews to overshadow the valid concerns about the masjid's management. While I respect their opinions, I believe it is more important to focus on the actual points raised. First, my criticism is not aimed at Sheikh Omar. He is a wonderful imam and a positive figure in our community. However, it is clear that the leadership structure places full control in the hands of one board member, which has created an imbalance in decision-making and limited the community's involvement. This is especially concerning given that this board member has been in control for over 20 years, stifling the opportunity for new leadership and fresh ideas from the younger generation. Our community is full of well-educated, talented people who could contribute to making the masjid a vibrant, active center of learning and growth. It's time for a more inclusive approach, where the community can participate in decision-making and help organize activities that benefit everyone. I also want to make a point to those who replied to my review with personal attacks or dismissive comments. It would be much more constructive if you addressed the specific issues I raised. If you truly care about the masjid and its future, let's have an honest discussion about how we can make improvements instead of resorting to dismissing valid concerns. I hope that we can all come together as a community and find a way forward that benefits everyone, including future generations.

I have been been a part of this community for over 2 years. I found no issue with the masjid leadership or board members. Theyโ€™re actually very accepting and open to new ideas and contributions to the ones who are willing to put in some effort.

By the grace of Allah I came to this masjid sometime in 2017. By the grace of Allah I have learned a lot about Islam from the various folks here. They study the religion and strongly protect the truth of Quran and Sunnah. The thing I like about this masjid is that they will not give in to social pressure to please certain people. They are focus on pleasing Allah and teaching us on how to please Allah. That's all that matters to me is to please Allah. Everything else is noise and deception. One has to know the gate code to have access. There are lots of lunatics who owns guns. When I pray at this masjid I feel very safe against the lunatics crazy gun owners who doesn't like Muslims. May Allah give his blessings to the management of this masjid for upholding the Quran and Sunnah. May Allah bless and guide all the people of the world.
