As a fellow with AMCF, I am working with non-profit organizations across the U.S. I assist with AMCF’s outreach to non-profits, support, funding and strategic planning. I am also working on coordination of AMCF’s non-profit related programming, including hosting podcasts to highlight the work of various organizations and non-profit capacity building through initiatives such as the AMCF Social Impact Accelerator. AMCF proudly supports hundreds of non-profits that work locally, nationally and internationally on a wide spectrum of issues, including social and racial justice, humanitarian assistance, women’s empowerment, child protection, diversity & inclusion, health, education and more.
I worked at Aljijakli, Kosseff & Prendergast, LLC representing clients in a variety of immigration issues, with a particular focus on family-based immigration and asylum. I am also passionate about contributing to pro bono efforts to advocate for immigrants with protection needs. My pro bono work has included volunteering to assist mothers and children at an immigration detention center in Dilley, Texas with the CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project and providing immigration consultations for Syrians through the Karam Foundation. I have also written on immigration detention and the legal options of Syrian asylum seekers in light of the U.S. travel ban.
