As it was my first time I decided to get a library card (no fee for Maricopa county residents). The library is sitting on a beautiful desert landscape. The design is ravishing and the atmosphere very welcoming. I would definitely keep coming back. I recommend the tables on the west side of the facility with a nice view to the outside
In terms of a building design and resources, this is a beautiful place. With Scottsdaleโs demographic and tax base, one would expect nothing less. The best time to go is before 230pm. Its location is directly across from Arabian Desert Middle School. When school gets out, middle schoolers and local high schoolers fill the place. Iโve been here dozens of times and without fail, kids are talking loud, playing video games, making phone calls. Several times, older kids are here swearing like they think theyโre gang members, with zero regard to volume. Library staff - while helpful with resources - ignore the disruptions completely. Iโve approached them to ask if they could manage volume, but Iโve never witnessed them take action. They are powerless and display little interest in maintaining library culture, as this place has its own clientele: entitled. Itโs all you need to know. As I said, a great place between open hours and 2:30pm on weekdays, but a loud afterschool disaster afterwards.
This library is for all ages with specific resources only a Scottsdale library could provide. There is more then just books and computers. I would strongly suggest looking at all the services they provide.
I don't think there's been a problem this staff hasn't been able to solve no matter the age of the person asking or their knowledge of the task/ subject . It's obvious they love and are proficient at their jobs because of the way they they're able to guide every conversation and adjust based on the persons description of the problem. This takes a high level of education and care to have not just patience but teach their community to solve problems. No matter how many times they have to go through it with them. This building is also an architectual piece of art.
This library is beautiful and is nice, quiet and cozy on weekends. During weekdays as soon as the middle schoolers come in at 2:30 it turns into a literal playground! I thought libraries are supposed to be quiet but apparently not this one. The librarians donโt even try to quiet them either! I even try to study in the study room but thatโs even worse and I hear literal BANGS on the wall! So basically great place to study just on weekends and weekdays before 2:30.
