I took my 85 year old mother in and Dr Shah completely ignored the fact that she has osteoporosis and before doing an SI test in the sacrum area wanted to inject her with steroids which increases her blood sugar levels and blood pressure for a week. I insisted that we need to first do the test and then determine which protocol to follow but she was not listening and neglected her condition as to her age and other complications. I had taken her for a second opinion and she became very assertive and ignored my explanations. When I asked to see another doctor by the staff and supervisor they said they cannot because that they are a team of doctors and I cannot see another doctor as part of the UCI team. This is an important red flag that needs to be addressed.

Dr. Shah has greatly improved the quality of my life and helped me in ways that other doctors could not. She is direct and very honest about the reality of the situation and its limitations, which I very much appreciate. She is caring and really listens to anything I have to say. The other doctors (the ones working under her supervision via Fellowship) are also very competent and excellent at what they do. If I'm not comfortable with something, they have no problem having Dr. Shah perform the procedure herself. There isn't too much waiting around when going in for appointments. It's pretty much the usual waiting time in comparison to other doctors. I usually talk to one of the Fellow doctors first, they then discuss the situation with Dr. Shah, she then speaks to me directly and discusses the path forward for my case. She has me schedule phone call check ins so that we can talk about how the treatment is moving along, and then how we should adjust the treatment plan accordingly. It isn't too difficult to schedule appointments (usually 2 weeks to a month out), which I think is very reasonable considering how busy she is. Overall, the staff, in general, are very caring, professional, and organized. They ALWAYS answer my phone calls. They also call back with answers if they aren't sure about something. I commute to my appointments, which involves a 1 hour 45 minute or 2 hour drive every few months/weeks and it is totally worth it! I had lost hope prior to meeting this doctor and now I am able to live life in ways that I thought I couldn't anymore. What do you have to lose by scheduling an appointment? From one person in life who's had their fair share of suffering to you reading this, who I bet has also had a fair amount of suffering... you don't have anything to lose, especially your hope in getting a treatment plan that will work for you, thereby improving the quality of your life. So don't lose hope! There are always more options when things feel hopeless. You are not alone in your suffering! Please take care and keep your head up (:

Dr. Shah is by far one of the worst physicians I have ever encountered. She was an hour late for our telehealth appointment and totally unprepared for our visit. She did not review my MRI and X-Ray reports prior to consultation, and when I pointed out differences in two MRI reports of same bodily location (first and second opinions reports), she asked ME what the differences in the two reports were. She was totally uninvolved, disinterested, and nearly non-responsive to any of the pertinent questions I asked her. I could have gotten as much information asking someone off the streets about my medical condition. She lacked any professional depth, and I got the feeling that she was annoyed that she had to answer any of my questions. She made absolutely no inquiries about my pain level, quality of pain, frequency of pain, or location of pain. She showed no compassion or concern for my condition, and to make matters worse, she ended the appointment stating there was nothing that she could do for me. I advise anyone who reads this review to seek another doctor.

Dr. Shah listened & reviewed all of my concerns. Sheโ€™s straight forward but compassionate. Referred her to my younger neighbor who has also had a positive experience under her care while under going Trigger Point (for spinal pain) Injections. Strongly recommend Dr. Shah.

Dr. Shah is a very compassionate person with a big heart. I was examined by her and she was able to refer me to the best doctor in that specialty. She is straightforward and honest. I would definitely, recommend her to friends and family.
