Elie and Stephanie B.
Stephanie and Eli Berchan met when they were little children running through the grapevine fields in their little hometown in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. As young adults, life had taken them to different places in the world only to be reunited once again at the shores of the Mediterranean. A love affair for the sea, for the food, and for each other was born and they tied the knot. A common dream of opening a family-owned restaurant moved their lovenest to the beautiful Los Angeles. In a city that graciously welcomes new flavors and embraces creativity, Sumac Cuisine opens its doors to the public in 2021.

7 months agoWhen my business partner bit into the kebeh that we ordered he made a face of delight that Iโve never seen him make before. I laughed out loud. He said, โThis is the best kebeh Iโve ever hadโ and I said, โI can tell!โ He was right. What a beautiful experience it was to dine at Sumac. This place is special. This isnโt just authentic Lebanese food, itโs curated recipes from Lebanese Mom and Grandma and Great Grandma, or at least thatโs what I imagined. Iโm already craving more Babaganoush topped with pomegranate seeds. The chicken shawarma sandwich was fresh and tender and delicious. The owner Eli and staff are lovely and welcoming. I canโt wait to try other items on the menu in the future. Today I just wanted my favorite Lebanese comfort food items and I succeeded in getting them. Easy parking, patio, bar, good vibes all around. I loved sitting in the window and looking at the flowering geraniums just on the window sill. Itโs the details.

8 months agoDelicious food; major bonus points for shawarma served the right way. Garlic sauce is great as is the house hummus. Service was the cherry on top, felt like a guest at a family member's home.

2 years agoWe stopped in this delightful Lebanese restaurant on our way to Hollywood Bowl. The owner was super friendly and the food was very tasty and flavorful. The fatoush salad with the Pomegranate dressing was outstanding. They also have fresh homemade lemonade and mint inched tea. Both were awesome. Highly recommended.
