The office staff and doctor are horrible. I had a broken crown with a small cavity underneath and a separate broken filling. The follow up after the initial visit wasnโt until two months later. When I arrive they say they havenโt received the authorization for the crown so theyโre going to repair the filling instead. Initially I agree. The doctorโs novacaine was clumsy and heavy handed. Iโm practically yelling as she moves the needle around in my gum. When she removed it and I sat up to rinse, she asked if I was ok. I said โno that hurtโ. Without any apology or concern she walked out the room. I then decided that I was only going to deal with her for one job which was the crown and told her I will wait for the follow up already scheduled for two weeks later and I leave. I also didnโt want to possibly exhaust my annual allotment on a tooth that wasnโt causing any pain.
After leaving I call my insurance company to inquire about the authorization. They tell me they received nothing on the day of my initial visit for either tooth, and that they just received the authorization request for the crown 15 minutes prior.
Fast forward, I get a voicemail 4 days before the follow up from the dentist office asking me to confirm. I call three days before and leave a message that I am confirming. I then call my insurance company to make sure the preauthorization was handled. They inform me that the preauthorization has been denied because it was not submitted with the required X-rays. They further inform me that they have been trying to contact the office for the required xrays, and that no one answers or returns the call. I ask how long it will take to approve the request once the X-rays are received. They say that if they submit them electronically, it can happen the same day.
I call twice the following day and leave a voicemail with the pertinent info. I called at 10 and at 430. No one answered or returned the call that day. Finally, someone calls me the day before the appointment and tells me they cannot get an authorization before the appointment, and that if I want to keep the appointment, I will have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. I tell them I will wait for the authorization. They then tell me the soonest they can see me is in two months. I told them no and wrote this review
